I want to read the League story with Connor Macleod and Knight Rider in it!

Now playing

The only proper response to this can be summed up by Under the Red Hood Batman...

Yeah, I've read it and she comes off as the biggest idiot. I agree with the publisher, she really has no idea of the power of the fire she is playing with. She makes a lot of vague sentiments about global warming and color-blindness and stuff like that but it all sounds so hollow.

Damn. I was hoping she was actually Jesus. That would have answered so many questions...

An "exploration of racism" only works when it is satirical and makes people think about their cultural assumptions in a way that helps them grow as a person and isn't completely offensive to people's race or ethnicity for seemingly publicity's sake.

Is your Nana actually Jesus?

I read as much as I could stomach of the first chapter. Racist trash is racist trash. If you are white and feel oppressed or victimized by minorities, you will love it. If you are a rational, reasonable human being that knows 'reverse racism' is a load of bullshit, you will be sickened and offended.

"I say, so what. And that is the position of Weird Tales - and upon reviewing the video and other materials, Marvin is in full agreement."

You just defended reverse racism. Good job, fuckhead.

Being against racism makes you a hipster now?

Mark Twain was writing at the turn of the 20th century when the cultural context (and language) was decidedly different from today. This author chose to use blackface and racial slurs knowing full well the cultural context and hurt that those images and words have made over the last 100 years. I can forgive Mark Twain

Right on.

Do you know what Weird Tales is? It is a scifi institution! Until the recent regime change and this debacle, its reputation was first rate. And Marvin Kaye, who has read the book, has retracted his support of the book. What does that tell you?

Its pretty hard to justify blackface and racial slurs no matter what the symbolism or message might be.

Well, it is still being published so if you are that morbidly curious, I'm sure you will get your chance. My recommendation would be to pirate it online and don't give the publisher a cent.

Well, at least Marvin's boss has some sense in his head and took control. Maybe they shouldn't let Marvin have "complete control" from now on if he is going to make such bone-headed decisions that affects the magazine's reputation or perhaps just give him the boot.

Rosetta Stone worked pretty well for me. That's how I learned Spanish.
