Marsai is the BOMB!  I love her and cannot wait to see her BLOW UP! (And the trailer for “Little” is hilarious!)

Yeah, that happened to Janet’s Unbreakable which IMHO is her second best album following Control. Sigh....

It’s damn good, and I’m far from a stan. It’s the first Mariah album I’ve bought. It came out the day before I had to fly cross-country for work, so I said meh, downloaded it, and have been loving it since November.

Ageism comes into play, too. Mariah Carey writes and produces all of her tracks and released one of the best albums of her career last year. Pop radio won't touch it.

This is the kind of officer that'll tase you for, "mouthing off" to him.

If you can’t handle being cursed out, you probably shouldn’t be a cop.

You’re right of course. This shit just infuriates me. These assholes and their union do nothing but fail upwards, meanwhile you have teachers buying their own school suppliers and going to jail for trying to help their students their union is too toothless to do anything about it.

So he could collect over a $100k a year for riding a counter like that murderer Pantaleo in New York? We need to stop rewarding these assholes for their assholery.

I mean, I don’t financially support Whoopi Goldberg, R. Kelly, or Chris Brown. I haven’t bought anything associated with Kanye West since like 2010. I have no idea who Travis Greene is.

I’m going to be that never once did it come to these mens’ mind that the bigger problem is how many women will decline a one-on-one meeting with a man because the man might decide to sexually assault her.

Yeah, this could be a bigger problem: the studios and the (white) audience want to have stories centered on “good” white characters.  It consistently misrepresents the pervasiveness of racism while upholding white supremacy.

I watched Marshall recently, expecting a biopic on Thurgood Marshall. Imagine my surprise when I watched a film, starring Josh Gad, about the character development of a milquetoast Jewish attorney. The film was fine, but it wasn’t about Thurgood Marshall. At. All. Unfortunately, this had a black director (white

Please don’t see this movie.

6That’s what I was afraid of. It looks like a good movie and I like the actors in it, but its trailer reminded me of other “magical negro” or “white savior” stories. It kind of depends on and is framed around the white character and their feeling/experiences where they are prejudiced until half a movie until they

Two major things that I think the viewers are missing or have wrong:

I'm so glad you made this comment, and thank you for stating it so well! That is exactly what I was thinking while I was reading this. Not that it isn't a legitimate topic or experience, but it's an experience that is very much based on all the social markers you outlined.

I'm with you 100% - for all the non-normal caregivers on this thread, I am so glad you brought this up!

I think it's really important, especially considering how many mothers of color are literally arrested for charges like "abandonment" for allowing kids to play in the neighborhood. It's demonstrative of how our culture looks at all POC as inherently criminal and requires we're assumed to be criminals first.

YES. Like, you know that "free-range parenting" movement? Where it's like, "Ooh, look at me, I'm letting my kid take the subway by himself, and I'm making a revolutionary statement because I'm white and rich and educated and I run in circles where it's the norm to helicopter-parent your kids, and I'm fighting back

This! My single mother worked her ass off to raise four kids after being abandoned, and no one ever referred to her as a "mommy" but a "single mom"...always "single mother" or "single mom" as if she couldnt be one or the other without the loaded qualifier.

I want a slightly too tight and breast hugging in a protest way
