Rock of Ages.

Bad Tina is pretty much my all-time favorite episode. I also enjoyed Beefsquatch — partially because of Tina's love affair in it.

brilliant
really insightful pop culture analysis here. I particularly like your comment on the origins of the gaga penis rumor.

Pale
I saw this film at Austin's Dobie followed by a discussion from del Toro, and then a Mariachi band since it was apparently his birthday. I admire the film and it still has some chilling moments but my most recent viewing felt a little meh — it has paled compared to his later works.

Great
Great article. Well researched and really gave me an insight into both this show and the specific episode as well. So how do people feel AB holds up to modern viewing? Is it worth a look?

I'm glad Frisky Dingo died because now we have Archer, which is a far superior show. It's like FD + H Jon Benjamin.

It was never intended to be the sole judge of the feminist value of a movie, just an interesting indicator. It's more interesting when you use it to examine patterns of movies as a whole, but it's still just a conversation starter not a really useful 'test.'

Yeah as soon as the photo popped up I, too, thought of our dear departed Rubicon. I was happy Todd said so too.

screener
I think the fact that they sent out a screener actually kind of adds to the joke, even if most people won't ever know. I can see the creators giggling about this.

I remember feeling physically dizzy during some parts of the Subway episode and being unable to watch it all the way through on its first airing. Also it's one of the Homicide episodes based on an urban legend, which I always appreciate.

Drumming
I had forgotten the drum-happy score to this show, even though I re-watched a few episodes after I finished the Wire.

Sunset
Shouldn't the Michael Bay filter make everything look like it was shot triumphantly at sunset?

<3
Someday I hope to meet my True Love. I will know she is The One when we hug awkwardly and then nod grimly at each other before walking off arm-in-arm into the sunset.

I agree, I would hate to see Kale's relationship vanish. I enjoy that it's no big deal, just part of life that Kale is gay and has a lover. No one talks about it, because there's nothing to talk about, and we get to see moments like Kale stroking his lover's hair.

Sex Workers
It was terribly predictable that once Opie started dating a sex worker there would be the inevitable scene where he gets all jealous. It isn't even out of character, just lame because we've seen it so many times before. And certainly its true to life — real life sex workers have a horrible time finding
