Dwight, is that you?
Krasinski has long suffered the delusional self-confidence that infects many an actor turned auteur: that he can write. This was not helped, I suspect, by his rewriting of what (by reputation) was already a very solid A Quiet Place script. Many actors turned filmmaker are competent visualists but it’s rarer to find…
An ugly truth of “millennial-hood” is that identity+victim status (real or imagined) = unconditional positive attention at minimum and in the best cases fame and prestige. It was something pretty overlooked by the activist set in not understanding what jussie smollett had to gain from faking a racial assault
how does the go saying about “if you meet an asshole, you met an asshole. If everyone you meet is an asshole...”
She? It’s They. You’ve just committed abuse again!
Brian Herbert says “Hold my beer”
I know people have complained for years about trailers that give away the whole film, but this is the first time I’ve watched a trailer and it felt like a “previously on” recap you see at the beginning of a new season of a show. Just a bit odd, especially since it doesn’t come out for another six months.
With regards the kissing - if people say it was inappropriate, I’ll believe them.
Yeah, the jury’s still out on the two parter question. No matter how good it is, if part one ends with ‘Defying Gravity’, no one’s showing up for part two.
die hard with a vengeance.
(“The blood is on your hands, Biden, we can see it all/And fuck no, I’m not votin’ for you in the fall/Undecided.”)
“Dwayne Johnson (hereafter refer to as ‘The Rock’) will be limited to handing off a maximum of 2 bottles of his urine during a rolling 24 hour period.”
Will Forte should be higher and I’d fit Beck Bennett in there somewhere - I feel like in the last decade or so of SNL, he was the most underrated cast member. Get Moynihan outta there, maybe. Otherwise, pretty agreeable/predictable list.
I don’t think there’s any separating that marketing campaign from the experience of seeing the movie. Even if you knew it was bullshit, the anticipation it build up added to it massively. Long way of saying I don’t think catching it again today would have anywhere near the same impact.
Would you say it’s akin to...makin’ copies...?
Whatever you think of Madonna’s work post Ray of Light (all of which has been below mediocre in my opinion) she was an icon in the 80s and 90s.
If you have the time/inclination - I wonder if your experience was the same as mine: devoted listener, onboard with their project, then over time Hobbes would make assertions where I would actually make a face toward my headphones/car speakers essentially going “Uhm, wut da fuq? You don’t know that. No.”
It has been better without Hobbes, who has gone off the rails in many ways since peeling away from the podcast.
You’re gonna HATE my upcoming biopic about the time 311 beat up Scott Stapp in a bar
