As a black man, sure, I’m happy to see black artists win awards but the fact you have to point it out is cringy as fuck. Especially when Trevor Noah, who basically killed the Daily Show as a vital show and has no business winning anything, is included there.

Ellen DeGeneres coming out of the closet on her show, Neil Armstrong landing on the moon, scenes from The Simpsons and Breaking Bad, Martin Luther King’s “I Have A Dream” speech, the closing moments of The Sopranos series finale, and, even 9/11"

100% with you. Our old movie theater, may it rest in peace, used to do Met Opera simulcasts and there is nothing like a well-shot stage show. No movie version of any of these musicals could really do the staging or lighting any justice.

Honestly, I feel like I don’t really need any of these. Especially not Sunset Boulevard - we already have a film masterpiece there, somebody doing an assuredly less good version based on the musical is not appealing.

Here’s hoping for a hot, shirtless pickleball scene.

I really like Meryl Streep, but I think this continues to be an astute observation about her from The Onion:

If he wants a shot at a career again he needs to just admit it, do his time (or whatever the sentence ends up being), go to inpatient therapy, and conspicuously take his L.  Continuing to deny it is not going to help him. His handlers aren’t doing him any favors with this.

Having worked at the management level of retail, “just aren’t as big of successes as they used to be” is, in fact, the business equivalent of failure.

Crimes of the Future is great, and she’s great in it.

I regrettably had the same reaction, since I find she uniformly delivers in any role - it’s just that many of the surrounding movies aren’t that compelling.

what the fuck!!!!

Without the interconnections, though, they’re just action comedies that run 150 minutes without a decent action scene.

Yeah that’s kind of what I was getting at, he was well known to be cocky and full of himself, not necessarily in a bad way just that he was confident, and he was a celebrity the public and private persona’s were probably pretty different.  I remember the stink when the movie first came out, and I saw it and it tracked

Oh my god again the idiots are out in full force with some form of “Comedian tells joke that’s fake, news at 11”.

The only thing Pink likes uncut is her cocaine!

So the beginning of this article talks about how unfair it was for the media to perpetuate a version of events based solely on Jonas’ story but for some reason it’s perfectly fine to perpetuate a different version of events based solely on her story?

I am so excited to watch Saltburn!

I was watching a director panel on youtube featuring Scorsese and others, including young director Lulu Wang, and he encouraged her to keep trying to find her own voice instead of immediately going to do a Marvel movie. I think that’s the point of this, guys like Marty and Spielberg and Coppola had time to make movies

For the most part I find Lost in Translation holds up. It’s a delightful movie. But that scene with the sex worker who goes over-the-top with swapping her Ls and Rs really bogs the film down. For that scene to work iy needs more context than the film provides. Is she doing that because that’s what her English-speaking

Behind the scenes? I feel a measure of trauma every time I try to youtube a sequence from his show. No thanks.
