So it’s about a ragtag bunch of mutants dominating a basketball league based on the header image?
Anya Taylor-Joy as Olive Oyl. Willem Dafoe as the Sea Hag.
That’s what I should have expected regarding your answer to the look of games nowadays. I do think “dour” isn’t inappropriate when it comes to what I’d expect from the tone of these games scenes. I just hope it won’t be as dark and difficult to see as the final battle on GoT.
Sounds like you might not have read the trilogy yet, but to clarify, an immersive video game plays a part in the story in the first book. That’s the “fantastical world of the game” that the article is referring to, I imagine.
When you write about “the true greats”, were you talking about prestige TV or videos games? Not a gamer, so I don’t know if games now also tend to be dark, at least the moody adventure types. Would it be giving the showrunners too much credit to think that they’re reflecting the current visual trends in gaming?
I think generally a story this epic and with a loooong list of characters is helped by this medium. The book introduces a ton of characters many of whom have Chinese names that just don’t roll off my American tongue, so it was a real challenge keeping the characters straight. I good way to keep showing her love is to keep considering her for movies. A lot of really talented people get attention during awards season and just disappear from the biz shortly thereafter. Gladstone was really great in that movie. Hope she gets more chances to continue to build her career.
It was pretty incredible, and I’m guessing it’ll start a trend, so I fully expect a big number with kickline from the cast of Twisters at next year’s Oscars.
What I should have written is that the word choice is inappropriate. And I’m not telling anyone how to feel.
I wish Chris Rock and Will Smith had been among the Kens just slapping Gosling and then each other.
“Robbing” is a strong and inappropriate word. It would have been awesome to see Gladstone win because I really loved her performance, but Stone’s was also really incredible, and a much bigger part of her film. The award was up for grabs especially between the two of them, and not for Gladstone to lose.
