I’m definitely the kind of person who would go there just for the schadenfreude of watching other people’s awkward first dates.

I’d like this a lot more if it was just about having a nice but safe place to meet someone for the first time with staff who are trained to be helpful if things are iffy.
When I was dating in my twenties, my preferred first date was tapas\small plates, an activity (pool, minigolf, something fun) and if that goes well then take it to a bar. Basically ensuring that you’re talking and getting to know each other and not spending the night hiding behind food or a movie.
EXACTLY! They can fund candidates without having to be instate.
Why can’t I give you more than one star?
I think it is hard to blame companies for not wanting to send their female employees to Georgia. What if, god forbid, one of their pregnant employees miscarries, and these dolts refuse to do an abortion because the fetus “might still be viable”? Or their employee gets charged with murder for miscarrying? Gets raped…
If this human rights violation was happening anywhere else, wouldn’t we be pressuring Hollywood to film in a more civilised location? And anyways, when has staying and fighting ever been more effective than a boycott in this country where money is the only thing that talks as loud as God™? This law didn’t pass…
If the corporations were seriously against it they could boycott the state and fund challengers to the current body of politicians there at the same time.
While I sympathize with the fact that boycotts will hurt Georgians who didn’t vote for this shit, it’s a sad fact that this is the only sort of thing (other than getting their asses voted out) that hurts Republicans where they care about - their bank accounts. I have extended family in the state, and they’re the exact…
Hmmmm... Update thoughts:
No Punky was on the air first. They took the first 3 minutes of a sitcom and turned it into a crime show.
Welcome to late stage capitalism, where the companies are gonna ride it til the wheels fall off and we are all trapped in the flaming wreckage.
Why? Because it’s there. It exists, therefore they want it.There are no ethics in the face of profit, which frankly is the single biggest problem with American capitalism.
This is great news - as long as I can also get a new pair of sweet-ass Punky Brewster shoes, like I had in the 80s!
it’s right next to the ocean because the ocean there is unswimmable; it’s freezing cold and has rough waters/rip tides all year long
That sounds like such a Texas thing. I could easily see something like that outside Dallas or San Antonio attached to a resort hotel.
It already exists. https://www.texaspool.org/
Chile, on average, is only 100 miles wide. It is a long and narrow country. The reason for pools like this is that the ocean in chile is so cold, you can’t really swim in it even when it’s super hot outside. On the plus side, the cold cold water is also why they have such amazing fish and seafood.
The problem is that its right next to the Pacific Ocean. The pacific ocean is cold. Algorrobo water temperatures are always below 60F...
