There’s a biiiiiiig difference between sharing ideas and using bastardized versions of another culture’s sacred objects as fashion accessories. If kids started wearing Sikh turbans or Jewish prayer shawls as fashion accessories, it’d be just as offensive.
People aren’t the rational actors that are described in economics textbooks. Pretty much no corporation or company sets out to pay men more. So, they aren’t thinking of it in terms of who is the cheapest. And, frankly, that often isn’t the top priority for businesses. Because there isn’t one guy at the top reaping all…
I know this isn’t an open forum and yet I cannot contain my excitement. Given that Everlast is a has been, can I talk about my waiting to exhale moment? This is totally out of the normal commenting but I just had to give a huge thank you to so many Jezebelians who talked me off the ledge while selling our house. My…
But the Chrises get their own movies to be paid in. Black Widow doesn’t. So, they do make more overall.
Trump should, however, listen to "What Its Like." Not at his rallies, just quietly, to himself.
4 hit wonder..... Bwhahahaha
My 1992 self would never believe my 2016 self would utter such a sentence, but here it goes: I have newfound respect for Everlast.
I go here.
These days it’s pretty standard for teachers, professors, pastors, camp counselors, and so on to be taught to do this all the time, because it helps to protect you from false accusations. Unless there’s a window in the door, you leave the door open.
All universities can fire faculty with tenure under “just cause.” In California, the Board of Regents can have a hearing to determine whether or not “just cause” applies in this case. The Faculty Senate usually may also investigate, but doesn’t necessarily carry the weight of the Regents. Both of the UCLA students…
Not true. There’s more red-tape, but people with tenure can absolutely be dismissed, you just may have to defer to some process/consensus within the academic leadership structure—and there’s the real issue. The Old Boys’ Club is alive and well on many campuses.
I know someone who met Charlize at an event and afterwards they all went out to a local pub. After buying everyone shots, she she drunk dialed her buddy Keanu Reeves and had everyone say hello to him. It was apparently clear from the tone of his voice this has happened more than once and he thought it was funny. She…
Suddenly the whole story seems that much more traumatic for his victims.
“He responded by saying that philosophers Hannah Arendt and Martin Heidegger had had a career-long love affair, and that “if done right, professor and student relationships are supposed to [be] intimate,” according to the complaint.”
I still wish they would have done Peggy and Joan spinoff about two modern ladies trying to make it in the big city.
Piterberg is required to leave his office door open while conducting meetings with students.
But why is it okay for Hardy (also famed for his beauty) to be an asshole, and it’s the director’s job to “pair him” with someone chill, rather then Hardy behave himself on set? I’m not saying Theron isn’t an asshole, necessarily (never met her, or him, obvs) but why is any reputed clash her fault and not his?
I don’t actually have a problem with anyone being an asshole, and she certainly does not take any shit (as she shouldn’t if she so chooses). Not everyone has to be Amy Adams. But, asshole-ery does hinder a person’s ability to be widely “beloved.”
That should keep her in good stead until she’s in her mid-forties, and then she can say hello to roles where she is playing someone’s mother. It reminds me of this story about Maggie Gyllenhaal being too old at 37 to play the love interest of a 55-year old actor,
