I read East of Eden once. It was a really good multigenerational saga about two connected families in California at the turn of the 20th century, touching on beneficence, love, and the struggle for acceptance, greatness, and the capacity for self-destruction and especially of guilt and freedom.

Guess we need an abridged version of his comedy! It’s funny, though, I can still watch Richard Pryor Live, and not only is it not filled with ‘artefacts of its time,’ but it’s strangely still relevant to this very day. I suppose that’s why Pyror is often considered the best stand-up ever.
Raw was on Comedy Central a couple months ago, and I was laughing as hard as ever. Then he started dropping homophobic epithets, and it was quite a bit less funny. Nonetheless, he’s still a great comedian, when he stays outside the boundaries of hate.
