My only objection to cash payments is that I think there is a better plan that would help more people of color more effectively. Beau of the Fifth Column (no relation) spells it out: a massive fund that people of color could borrow against and then repay at comfortable rates, which would provide a multiplying effect

Holy smoke, this is Bernie fixing his “gaffe”?

Get a garbage bag, duct tape, and stick-on letters from Home Depot. Make a tunic out of the garbage bag, decorate it with duct tape, and then use the stick-on letters to write “FUTURE GUY”.

The thing I notice with Michael and then Glen is, they have rejected evil, or at least are in the process of rejecting it. Something I bet Lucifer never did.

The thing that came as a surprise to me, last week and then this week, is that demons actually think they’re serving the greater good. Now to be sure, it’s easy to claim higher motives as a justification for causing harm; but it seems like at least some demons genuinely believe it. That leads to some philosophical

I like the idea, although eliminating all trace of him would be letting too too many people off the hook. If anything I’d like to force people to wear MAGA hats that they can’t remove, and each of them contains a greeting card chip that plays Trump’s ten most irritating quotes over and over. Q’pla!

200 proof true.

I rehash more stuff from my youth too, and beat myself up fairly relentlessly over mistakes I made when I was seven. But I’m working on it. The thing that’s hard for me to believe is, most of my Crimes Against All That Is Good And Decent were so trivial that they were completely forgotten by everyone but me within

Kelly is not just turning into a Mary Sue, she’s on the way to becoming Poochie. I don’t think ditching James for her is a trade up; the issue with James is finding a role where he shines.

Aw don’t go trashing season 4 of “Community”: while there were some dog episodes, overall the season held up, and it’s the only season in which Shirley wasn’t terrible. It didn’t hit the heights of the series, but it came close in places; the episode with the Germans was rock-solid, and it foreshadowed the “Save

Thank you for the information. I asked because I wanted to get an accurate picture of what the movie was about. I rarely see movies — haven’t been to the theater in like 15 years — so I didn’t anticipate seeing this one either.

I haven’t seen it, probably never will. Is it a film that holds, whether stated directly or not, that a guy is justified in turning into a murderer because he went through a rough patch?  Like, he has no free will by which to decide to handle misfortune like a man?

Finally, some mad science I can get behind! Not that I exactly agree with Lena’s choices, but I see where she’s coming from. I say it’s a good ethical question: if you could alleviate suffering on a massive scale and all it would require was limiting people’s capacity for malice, should you do it? It’s not a question

It couldn’t have happened to a more deserving stable of Purity Ponies.  They will not be missed.

One thing I have discovered is that you can set the tone of an email as “harmless and friendly” by starting with “Hello,” and ending with “Thanks, King Beauregard”. It’s good boilerplate for friendly back-and-forth. But what happens if what you put in the middle is passive-aggressive? There is potential for some

Yeah, Markovian government work!

Serious question: if the AV Club isn’t going to review “Black Lightning”, then what is even the point of doing reviews? This is a show with a vision and a story to tell, in ways that you just won’t find in any of the other superhero offerings.

BALKAN, not Baltic!

“I think the one off merc was named Cyclontronic not Psyclotronic and he was loosely based on the one off Superman and All-Star Squadron villain, Cyclotron, who was killed off in each of his appearances.

Very pleased with the “The Equalizer” reference, both in terms of nostalgia and appropriateness.  A+  would record on my Beta VCR
