There’s a whole different world of character design/constraints between 2D sketches and 3D models. With 3D you have to get consistent proportions, unlike 2D where you can overexagerate the chin in a still for example, and make it “normal” in another shot with no problem.
I never felt the need to imagine it, but at least now I know this mix is not appealing at all. CS is confined, weapon focused, rigid. OW is wild, ability focused, agile. Mixing both feels like those strange sport experiments you discover on youtube, like mixing soccer with bowling :/
I’m saying this quite regularly in here, but this time is perfect to show it again : imo the next true revolution will not be power, it will be AI storytelling. Take a look at https://talktotransformer.com/, and imagine a fitting, supervised variant being implemented into each NPCs of an RPG. It’s a whole new level…
Yes. Also, I’m not sure being a sociopath (aka “evil”) is a true fantasy for anyone. I mean even the biggest IRL mobs do wish for a peaceful life, through their family and “close friends”.
Been having a wonderful 90s nostalgia this week with Phantasy Star (Generation) 2 on PS2 emulator. This RPG was a real gem for its time, and replaying it is a true delight. Game was also one of the hardest JRPG ! Found it fully english traduced on pscave.com
I can feel the pain of not expecting such a wide amount of attention at launch ... Just discovered they’re from a not-so-big french town (Nice), and they’re only 13 people ! https://wolcengame.com/forum/announcements/official-news/meet-the-team/
They’ll gain traction, hire more people etc, things will go better I’m…
I completely agree with you. Games as Service, or “Home games” as I prefer to call them, was a nice thing in the mid 00's when market was cluttered with one-shot experiences, and when there was still room for game mechanics easy-novelty.
edit : Social *welfare*, haha sorry
Nicely spotted ^^
Although, there is a massive disadvantage to not be located in Paris : lack of social security. It’s not like being a pro OW player is the safest job in the world, unfortunately.
I went to Tokyo with my childhood friend in April 2019, Kabukicho precisely. He is a huge Kitano fan, hence hyped by Yakuza culture aswell.
One night he tried to (lightheartedly) gather yakuza stories from a barmaid, out of curiosity, he was told how the Yakuzas she uses to see or hear of are not what movies depict…
I agree, the max points could be determined in advance depending on weight category, estimated physical condition etc. But wouldn’t it allow some kind of pre-match corruption ? “ok I like you, I’ll give you 110 hp.”
The thought has been running my mind for a while now : whenever AI will take the lead in political decisions (and trust me, it will sooner than later), these decisions will be alike marxism. Or at least marxism will be the easiest route for AIs.
I recommend their live, they’re fantastic.
Great article :)
I faced the netcode problem in a fighting game I made for iOs, so I can relate.
Thing is, games are a lesser (good) movie narratively wise, and will use a lot of pattern repeat (game mechanics, visuals). While movies will be as unique for every minute as life itself. So we can’t really compare the hour/dollar ratio between both with exactitude.
Pearl Abyss product manager : “How can there be no Pokémon on mobile ? Let’s do a Pokémon !”
Also, Plan 8 looks extremely cool.
In the end, Mai is as much “embarassing” as an IRL instagramer who has nothing else to express in life that her own body. But once again, because someone created that character from A to Z, he’s held responsible for not changing her for the better. It’s the Daenerys case all over again. I wish editorials would be that…
Let’s be honest : we’ve all read between the lines, OW2 is not an emergent product. It’s an order from investors who simply said “Blizzard is not releasing enough new games”. Aka, “Wow subscription can’t sustain it all”. Even the title, Overwatch 2, doesn’t make any sense, as it’s only adding extensions of formats…
