Also, always worth noting in a political discussion that the president doesn't actually have the powers that people give him credit for. That's all Congress and their various outlying arms.

no that isn't it. bankruptcy does not mean a business closes. Kind of like if you file personal bankruptcy. You don't suddenly die, vanish or lose all of your assets. Just saying that they should have closed a few years ago is a very narrow minded media driven view. There were many contributing factors to why they…
Oh, please, let's not act like those corporate cum drinkers on the right would have let them fail.
you don't go bankrupt and close. A few years ago they wouldn't have closed, they would have gone through a proper and legal form of bankruptcy vs. what they actually went through and they would still be here.
I just love all the people who think a multi-billion dollar corporation failing would be good. Because they don't support hundreds of millions of jobs, and the unemployment rate isn't high enough.
This is going to be a difficult one to prove in court. GM sales have increased 13% during the recalls. A scum sucking lawyer will do anything for a buck.
Nope. Have you seen how GM sales are going?
If GM goes under and the government does nothing the economy will be dealt a massive blow, God forbid we go into another Great Depression. I loathe GM, but I don't want to see all those factory workers take a massive hit just because they needed to work.
What's interesting is the lawsuit doesn't just affect the recalled cars (even though they're up to 20 million now) but all GM cars because it claims the entire brand has taken a black eye over the safety crisis.
Agreed; and I would add that I doubt—save for a select few—any of those buyers purchased a GM vehicle for its good resale value. I see this move as something lawyers cooked up to milk as much as possible out of GM's situation. I doubt the owners of these vehicles will see much of any benefit.
So I guess I should have filed a lawsuit when the value of my 04 Malibu tanked during the bankruptcy and I sold it for half of what I paid for it?
This is getting ridiculous. You don't get money for buying a car and losing resale. Did Saab owners get paid when they went under? No. Who wants to buy a used car from a company that doesn't exist? Do super car owners get money back when a newer faster car comes out and its not the fastest any more? No they don't. I…
I can't imagine it's legally a brand's responsibility to uphold their reputation for the sake of the second hand market value of their former products O_o
