Scarlett alleges that Gaiman assaulted her within hours of their meeting in his New Zealand residence in February 2022, when she was hired as a nanny for his child. The two apparently shared a bath where, according to Gaiman, they only “cuddled” and “made out” with consent.”

Not entirely related but I learned that some people thought of June that they were seeing “too many rainbows.”  How miserable a person do you have to want to be if even rainbows make you angry?

But really, who could have expected the people who appropriated something as innocuous at the “OK” hand gesture as a symbol of hate would do the same for “White Boy Summer?” How could anyone have seen that coming?

Wait, those were the “less cardboard” versions we saw in “Black Widow?”

I didn’t make much on my features. Maybe enough to pay a few months of rent now and again but I always needed dayjobs back in the 90s.

This. She’s bemoaning that briefest of periods in the late 90s to early 00s when indies were a cheap way for studios to buy Oscar noms for original screenplay, or supporting actor. They’d just go to Sundance and buy a few films there to beef up their awards slate. But then a number of those films flopped, or frankly

as a fan of indie movies, absolutely true. they simply don’t exist at that scale anymore.

Right, and that might not be all bad. Holofcener laments the loss of arthouse movies theaters, and (as someone who also loves such theaters) it’s a real loss. But people in Iowa aren’t sitting around wondering why they can’t find a theater anymore showing Enough Said — they never had one.  The fact that they can find

probably paid more than 30 of mine. Oof. Hey kids, don’t go to Tisch/NYU. Go be a plumber and do something useful.

Pratt now seems to be the go-to guy for big licensed IP (Mario, Garfield, etc). Definitely not convinced about Lawrence, but there was a stretch when she was an instant box office draw in multiple genres.

Indie films still make money, but they tend not to be the grown-up films we saw back in the 90s (Sound of Freedom, Everything Everywhere, Hereditary, etc.). Movies about marriages, adult friendships, etc. — unless it’s wrapped in a genre, it’s dropped onto a streamer with no fanfare and forced to compete on the

Speaking as someone who has been a dues-paying union member, but never one who served in a leadership or service position, it seems to me like the people who actually go out there and bust their ass to negotiate a deal are in a no-win situation. Negotiation and compromise are really, really, really hard, but the

It was easier to talk about selling out in the 80s and 90s because artists of even relatively low profile could still make a modest living because of the sale of physical media — plus, in the case of films and music, theatrical tickets. Collectively, even some pretty niche creators could make a good amount of money

I certainly understand the frustration that indie filmmaking is struggling and that smaller films are finding it ever harder to find an audience.

Yeah but what does she really think

Pretty on brand for Italy, a nation where sexual assault has essentially be greenlit by its courts*.

OG Blade Runner had a polluted, dirty, but lively city. Blade Runner 2049 had a polluted, deathly city that felt like it was on its last legs in many ways. They should have Blade Runner 2099 go full circle, and now it’s cleaned-up with clear air and restored land.

Well, Eastwood is still alive 20 years after Brando’s death... I guess “the kid” won the longevity competition.

It just reminds me of an interview with Michael Shannon from a few years ago where he basically said he had no interest in playing Trump or a variation of him for exactly that reason.
