I want this movie to happen so, so bad, but I know it’s not more important than the writers getting fair pay.

All his talk about it being badass and cool is so fucking embarrassing, I’m really not sure that this site isn’t written by 8 year olds now. Either way, it feels like he’s doing this so the film speaks for itself, and if he read this article I think he’d be quietly mortified.

I don’t actually think that all museums are inherently bad. I should say that there are major issues that plague the museum industry that have not gotten better and need to be addressed but the rich people at the top have no interest in firing themselves.

That’s really good info about insurance/business requirements. Thank you.

A much better idea is to give him as much as airtime as possible on multiple networks and devote countless of hours to round table discussions about every little thing he has ever done or said. This has, to my knowledge, never backfired, especially not during the 2016 election.

no

Meatball Ron could’ve been a great Max Headroom.

The Louis CK thing i dont care about, (I mean. dont care about them shelving it)-but DeSantis is fucking dangerous, he’s a threat to democracy as much as Trump, shelving any exposes about him is not good.

I think Ron getting crushed by Trump is weirdly satisfying because it’s fun to see the GOP try and fail to contain the Trump monster they’ve abetted for years.

Thats a huge leap up from 45GB to 576TB. Magnitude of savings on number of tape switches or size of library. To back up a 1PB environment, you go from 22 thousand tapes to... 2.

I don’t know about this particular, quite small layoff, but in general layoffs look at departments and business areas and by definition not at individual performance. That’s explicitly the difference between a layoff and a firing. People who were let go in a layoff also frequently can get rehired by other departments

Tape drive backups are still used today and are an excellent way to cold store data.

Top Gun 2 released in May. Lightyear released in June.

For now, LTO10 is right around launch time and will get 45GB per tape uncompressed.

a fair question to ask, 25 years later

Im working in a government department in Europe and we still use tapes in all out servers, including for the external companies and departments that we host. The face that tapes can hold anywhere from 5tb to 30tb they’re still widely used just because the price with regards to the capacity is massively inexpensive

Even though the “saved” the film. 90% of it was cut and not used in the final release. Back then they had little faith in the movie seeing it as more than just a direct to video release in the state it was.

the media jumps on any simplistic narrative it can. we make a mistake if we keep our analysis within the confines of that narrative.

It was a movie that everyone knew would end up on Disney plus that no one asked for. It didn’t fit the tone and general aesthetic of the series it spun off of. Also it was released at one of the worst times ever for box offices. But sure it’s the gay relationship.

this shows the limitations of our simplistic ‘do video games cause violence’ discourse. here we have someone literally funded by the department of homeland security saying “video games are great nothing to see here!... oh except for those scary terrorists who use them for evil.”
