I find him to be actually perceptive.

France also has a great law that requires streaming services to wait 15 months after a theatrical release before a movie can end up on streamers, which is probably great for theaters and physical media sales.
I guess I don’t disagree with your specific points, just the conclusions. For example, I don’t think Seinfeld is saying that movies as a medium are niche, and he definitely isn’t saying that genuinely popular things can’t exist. Maybe other people are making that argument, but if so, I can’t speak to it.
So by that logic, it’s okay to get pissy about anything Seinfeld says? Because if 100% pure uncut Jerry Seinfeld happens to be pretty perceptive, I’m not sure where we, as a culture, can go from here.
Michaels executive produces Fallon’s Tonight Show, so I figured I was hitting two media birds with one name stone.
I’d argue they’re only overestimating the impact of Lorne Michaels.
That would’ve been a much more compelling point six years ago. Now not so much.
You don’t think the fact that most movie discussion has moved online reflects how pop culture is more fragmented than ever and thrives in spaces where people with similar interests can find each other?
Forget Anne Hathaway, take the hint about celebrity gossip, AVClub!
What’s the deeeaaal with the AV Club?
Barsanti bragged on Twitter how he had the most AVC bylines to his name, which I think is how he picked up the reputation of Aimless Shit-Flinger, but you hit the nail on the head. All the writers write snark for snark’s sake.
Username isn’t checking out, sorry
I get that, and maybe over time we’ll look back and laugh about what a big deal people on the internet made about it. But on the other hand, if it’s really such an unimportant part of the movie, I’m a little confused why Garland didn’t just use an even more generic faction name like “the Western Federation” or…
Lots of movie marketing campaigns include or create material that isn’t intended to be in the final film. The Dark Knight had an entire ARG that depicted Harvey Dent’s run for District Attorney. It makes the world of the film feel bigger. For Civil War, I can understand why A24 would want to sell the idea that the…
A lot of people don’t seem to recognize the difference between and graphics created specifically for commercial purposes either, to be fair.
for all the people who are suuuper butt-hurt over the texas/california alliance it’s legitimately one line in the film and it never becomes relevant whatsoever nor do we learn anything about their allegiance.
Same.
You sound genuinely confused.
Eh, in fairness, all of those qualities were choices the actors made after they’d been cast, and developed while working with the writers, directors, and the producers. You could arguably ask the same of Idris Elba, Tom Hiddleston, or any other actor the Internet has insisted would be the “perfect” James Bond. We won’t…
I’d have to read over all the deal points before agreeing, but I’m open to the idea in principle.
