Assault with a protein drink? No whey!
Assault with a protein drink? No whey!
I want to print giant posters of this and hand it out at NRA events.
Fuck ‘em is right. Early on when this debate was firing up, I heard a wonderfully simple and devastating rebuttal from a historian, when confronted with the stock defense of “Well the flag is about heritage and courage in the face of the South losing the war.”
“They fought to try and get freedom for everyone.”
King County has one of the lowest vaccination rates in North America. It makes me beyond mad, I live in the PNW as well (near Victoria) and the attitude is very similar. When I was working in Guatemala, I met women who- no word of a lie-bundled up their kids and hiked over a VOLCANO to get their kids immunized. Unless…
This is going to be long, because I have a lot of pent up feelings.
“She didn’t want Lilly to learn about black history,” he said, “She just wanted her to learn about the Confederacy.”
The actual, respectful, genuine hunters I know are also brave enough to use the word “kill".
My (ex) husband’s family in Minnesota hunted deer, on their own land. And we ate it, and glad to have it because we were young marrieds and beef was too damned expensive. I remember the younger guys gave a deer carcass to an old guy who was too advanced in years to hunt, and him crying with happiness (because that’s a…
I agree that we live in an Age of Outrage where internet commenters like to pat themselves on the back for their right-thinking. However, sometimes the outrage is actually warranted, like in this case.
It probably wouldn’t have gotten as much coverage, unfortunately, but African lions face the threat of extinction by the year 2050. So either way it’s a big deal.
“ The outrage is not about his killing of a lion, it derived from the fact, that he killed a ‘celebrity’ animal. “
I was about to answer your question, but then saw you covered the “jerkin off” so I’ll contribute something else instead.
Yeah calling what this assclown does “hunting” is kind of inappropriate. If someone goes out and stalks a non-endangered animal like a deer or wild bird and then takes said animal to be butchered and used for food, that is hunting and okay for some people who like to do that sort of thing.
i am also outraged by the numbers of people of color who are killed in broad daylight. the two are not mutually exclusive.
I can think of several reasons. First, and probably most important, lions are endangered. Killing one has a much, much bigger impact on the world than killing one chicken. Secondly, he killed the lion (and other big game) for sport, not for food. There’s no purpose to it other than to kill something. And third, I…
Take a peek at the conservation status of deer and the conservation status of lions and then come back and talk to us.
What about hunters in the western world hunting deer and proudly displaying the antlers? Why no outrage then?
I used to work in a rural-ish area. Lots of people hunted: deer, ducks, rabbits maybe. I’m not a hunter, but I’m pretty ambivalent about people hunting plentiful herbivores. Maybe that’s really stupid of me? But there are hella deer here and people usually got it processed and ate it. I feel completely different about…
Again, I deeply regret that my pursuit of an activity I love and practice responsibly and legally resulted in the taking of this lion. That was never my intention.
