I hate it. But I’ll get used to it. In fact, it’s sort of an improvement. Actually I prefer it. The next one after this will be terrible, surely.

Lots of companies these days are building recreation/continuation cars or partnering with boutique builders to produce limited runs of high quality, highly accurate replicas. Toyota could easily do a run of like 100 “new” 2000GTs. They’d still be expensive, but much cheaper than an original. They’d also be more likely…
Original Taurus SHO too.
Eh, that’s disingenuous. Toyota approved the design and used their engine in it (though the engine was modified by Yamaha). Yamaha was basically a contractor. Nissan turned down Yamaha’s concept and Toyota approved it. If Toyota had hired a few contractors to design the 2000GT, would it not have been to Toyota’s…
Yup. For 19 large of someone else’s project I expect it to be complete and fully operational and without body flaws. This one? CP, and that’s before thinking about what that heavy engine did to the S2000's handling.
I am a big rotary-nerd, but I am also quite a realist about how next-to-impossible another rotary powered sports car would be.
A rwd, manual, coupe with Mazda handling? Sounds good regardless of the engine.
If losing a rotary is inevitable, an Inline 6 is at least an acceptable consolation. I’m not a big rotary nerd, I just think they sound cool and I appreciate things that are different. But I also recognize it might just be a concept that will never pan out to the extent that piston engines have.
Nah, Sorry.
So, I just picked up a 2018 base Macan with a few options a week ago, and I gotta say. The car really doesn’t drive like a 4000+ lb SUV.
I wonder how much IRS might crunch Expedition sales.
Remember when everyone called the Scion XB and the Honda Element boxes on wheels?
This is one of the many reasons why I love Jalopnik: Useful, informative comments from the community that explain things that the writer didn’t mention.
Drive one and you’ll understand.
Yes. Because this is back to basics ruggedness.
