Oh, you know what other great hard scifi book there is? Usurper of the Sun, by Housuke Nojiri. It´s got intriguing concepts on the nature of intelligence and clever speculation on how we humans would react to an alien encounter.
So, does Hugh Howey´s Silo series count as hard scifi? Either case, about to finish Shift and loving it.
