The first time I met Harlan Ellison was in 2001. I was meeting my girlfriend (now wife) for the very first time at DragonCon in Atlanta, along with her then four year old daughter. DragonCon offered childcare back then, but it wasn’t going to be open for a little while yet, and Harlan was doing a live reading. I had

The problem wasn’t that people don’t want to see an idealistic young lad become an old cynic. The problem was that the reasons given for why Luke became an old cynic in TLJ were unrealistic.

You’re going to tell me that after going from being a nobody on a remote planet to a Jedi who helps to destroy two(!) Death

Except the fact that he’s a worthless hermit isn’t the issue. He’s not just a super cynical old man. He was literally seconds from murdering his own nephew because he had a scary vision when his entire training taught him not to give in to fear and hate, and after he’d refused to accept his father was completely evil

Sorry but that’s just nonsense, people do not fundelentally change character, they learn, they grow, why they Don’t do is become someone else, which what happened to luke

I’m fine with cynical old man Luke, Im still not fine with Luke pulling out his lightsaber and trying to kill padawan Kylo.

Also? I don’t think he’ll ever get the recognition he deserves for it, but this was one of his finest performances. And I say this as someone who has loved his voice acting over the years and think he’s a tremendously underrated talent. He brought so many layers of emotion to every line that I could not pay attention

She’ll make the money back by stealing Mount Rushmore.

Well Smith’s point of view is just be positive that they made a JL movie to begin with because he’s old enough to remember the time before 2008 when movie studios weren’t making Superhero movies every year.

‘80s jocks were right - nerds are bad fucking news.

Reminds me of when she came to Australia and started tearing shreds off of farmers for docking sheep tails. With zero knowledge or understanding.

my dad didn’t watch much tv or many movies but one evening at dinner he told us he had seen an interesting movie on tv that afternoon called “the jerk.” as he started to describe it, we realized he had actually watched “conan the barbarian” - the tv guide listing was wrong. when we laughingly asked him if he hadn’t

I’m honestly surprised Ivanka didn’t take his place because nothing represents our policies on gender equality than a feckless cunt

We Australians use it as a term of endearment.

Or how about we don’t attack anybody? For fuck’s sake, I hated the movie quite a lot, didn’t really like Rian Johnson’s attitude in some bits I’ve seen, but I don’t think we need to start stalking him online and yelling at him. He made a bad movie (in my opinion) and I dislike the direction a series I liked is moving

I hate TLJ too, but man, if you’re not the one harassing people, then there’s no point in jumping on here and trying to point fingers. It ain’t about you.

I think it should be a woman. They should hire his step daughter (Zoe Kravitz) and then he can be the villain. Just put the whole family in it. Lenny Kravitz can do the soundtrack.

I’m against violence. I understand and support self-defence; murdering a white supremacist is not going to make it less attractive to white supremacists to murder people of colour. You cannot take revenge on these kind of people and win. They will always be more ruthless, more brutal, more hateful than you.

I’d love to know where you work, where everything and everyone passes the purity test. I’ve worked for shitty companies, I’ve worked with shitty people. I don’t agree with their shittiness, but unfortunately I can’t live on a trust fund in a purity bubble.
