911s have a back seat, complete with seatbelts. I spent a good chunk of my childhood in the back of one - My Mom had a late 60's 911 for eons. Never wore the belt, of course, it was the 70s/80s. And much past the 5th grade I had to sit sideways. Exceptions being the super-hot ones like the GT3 and maybe the early

Cramming a perp into the back seat of a 911 would probably be considered "cruel and unusual punishment" in the US.

And every piece of a Golf Wagon R (or GTI for that matter) is also already certified and sold in the US. Just not that drivetrain in that body. Just like the Cadillac. Nothing new at all. So if Cadillac could do it and make a profit on a handful of cars, VW should only need a slightly larger handful, given the margins

Having driven one during a Susan Komen drive when they first came out, I find the 5GT to drive pretty much just like the 7-series with which it shares a platform. An e30 M3 it is not, but it isn't exactly an old American barge either. My Mother's old '83 528e was not exactly "the ultimate driving machine" either...

I agree with you 100%!

Actually, I have driven on the Autobahn. I did European Delivery on my last BMW, and will be doing it again this summer. Outside of the cities, plenty of open spaces to run. Especially on Sundays. And plenty of cars going very fast indeed.

I doubt very much that the Germans would do this "just because". You can be certain that they found that a spoiler was needed at Autobahn speeds. Don't forget, Germany is a country where you can actually find yourself doing 155mph perfectly legally on your way to work every day. Things that don't matter at 70mph DO

As early first-gen Audi TT owners found out the hard way. Though the fix was not a popup, the little spoiler that Audi tacked on under recall kept them on the road at Autobahn speeds.

I've had five, never anything more than typical old car stuff wears out issues. No problems at all with the '02 Golf TDI I bought new, wish I still had it.

Everyone says that, but the counterpoint is the CTS-V wagon. In theory, the costs should have been huge to sell that one too - but GM is on record saying they only had to sell a few to break even. So which is it?

BMW dealerships will happily order whatever you want (per the allowed options anyway), and in my experience you will get at least the same deal. Sometimes you can get a BETTER deal, especially if you are willing/able to do European delivery, as those sales usually don't come out of dealer allocation. I got almost $7K

The biggest reason wagons have been killed off is profit. Toyota could get $1500 more for the pure wagon version of a Camry, but they can get $5000+ more for the CUV version of a Camry. Or more - look at the price of a Highlander, which is essentially a jacked up Camry wagon with delusions of butchness. You can option

Agree on both counts. Went to my 25th a few years ago, and all I could think was: Who are all these fat bald old people (myself included, other than the bald part)? The people I want to see from high school I am still friends with, and those I don't want to see are just as big douchebags as they were 25 years ago,

That's the way to do business. Good for him!

The statement seems to be "shrunken Accord, with 110% more ugly".

If it looks like a truck, and acts like a truck, it sure seems like a truck to me. No one on this side of the pond has ever thought of any of them as cars. "Two peoples separated by a common language".

I have and love a P38 Rangie, but the lust for an old 3dr stickshift Classic as in the picture at the top of the post grows stronger by the year.

My P38 Range Rover has a massive separate ladder frame, live axles at both ends, and AWD with a (very) low range 2spd transfer case. It has approach, departure, and breakover angles a stock Jeep Wrangler Limited wishes it had. All of which are also true for Range Rover Classics. How is that not a truck?

If this had TWO USB ports, I consider replacing my 2012 MB Air with one. I travel for a living (150+ flights a year), so I want as light as possible that still has a decent sized screen and good battery life. But for what I do I usually need both a USB-Serial dongle plugged in and a USB-RJ45 network dongle at the same

The new Fiat 500 is just as classless as the original. Just a neat stylish little urban runabout.
