But what if those are MY snowmobiles, boats, and cars and trucks in various states of repair? Don't like it - too damned bad. Live somewhere else, and ask the HOA Nazi's if the color you want to paint your house is OK, or if you can park your new truck in the driveway you pay the big mortgage on. Never in 10,000,000

So true, so true!

As does my '11 328i, and my '13 Fiat, and the '08 Saab 9-3SC I used to have. Doug has such questionable taste in cars... :-)

For most makes, the light is already multi-tiered. On means something is up, but not a big deal. Blinking means something BAD is going on.

Isn't there a deductible on that CarMax warranty?

I see no earthy reason to buy an Escalade over a Yukon Denali. The Escalade is Tacky with a capital "T". Exclusively driven by Jersey Shore types (of all ages) in my neck of the woods. The only Gwagens around here are old and diesel powered. And there are more than a few of them.

49 of those 50 Escalades were livery cars. Wait, who am a I kidding, all 50 were.

I realize I am quite lucky. I live in Portland, ME, which does not really have "rush hour", more like rush 10 minutes. My commute is to the airport (<10 minutes) a couple times a week, or down the stairs to my home office. But I have zero sympathy for those who chose to have a ridiculous mind and body sapping commute.

Snow - it really is a good thing. I had a ball sliding my Range Rover all over the place on an icy parking lot last winter. On dry pavement, uh, yeah, that would be really, really, really stupid.

Listening to crappy overly compressed Internet audio through a $6300 stereo system is like having sex with your dick in the finger of a cutoff rubber glove. Use a medium that can do the thing justice.

This may come as a surprise, but not everyone sits in city traffic all day every day. I actually do have a lovely green (not brown) e91 BMW wagon with a manual transmission. It even has the optional Harmon/Karden stereo system. No turbo on that, but my FIAT Abarth makes up for it, though only a single turbo sadly.

Then buy a different car, you silly young twit. Kids these days.

Actually, I do. I just have no need of connecting my phone to do so. This car has an absolutely fantastic stereo system - you just might have to make an effort to use such quaint (though MUCH better sounding than anything coming across a phone) things as CDs.

Who cares. It's a car, not a rolling entertainment center. Put down the iDildo and drive the damned thing.

P38s are better overall, though each has its own quirks. More comfortable, more refined, even a little cheaper. I paid $5500 for a really good '01 last year.

How much was the original bridge like the current Chain Bridge? Is that one original or a rebuild? I didn't know there were once two!

I'm a glutton for punishment, I also have an '01 Range Rover. THAT likely has more wiring in the seats than the Spitfire has wiring period. I had a '73 Series III, but I never quite got it roadworthy - needed a new frame. Still great fun in the woods though! I learned to drive on an early '60's RHD diesel 109. It gets

Huh, only 32? My Golf TDI got 40+ towing rather more than that - 4x8 trailer with the front half of a Saab Sonett strapped to it from MD to ME. Long story...

No, you won't. I've owned a '74 (more or less) Spitfire for nearly 20 years. There is no cheaper car to keep running. Everything is available, and almost everything is dirt cheap.

Official top speed when new was 87mph, IIRC. And it would do that speed from sunrise to sunset, as long as the road was flat. Of course, this one is far from new.
