Because we ALL know it's against the rules to tell a story more than once

Ricky Gervais drinking game. Take a drink every time:

What are the other two books you've read?

I live in rural Minnesota, and there are shocking numbers of Confederate Flags here, which I've found incredibly curious… not only are we literally as far from the South as you can get and still be in the contiguous United States, Minnesota was actually the first Union state to send soldiers to fight in the Civil War!

I was mostly thinking about these shows in general terms, but as long as you brought it up Hate Speech and "bleeding hearts" are nowhere NEAR equivalent.

The thing about "equal opportunity offending" is that more often than not, white males (particularly middle class white males) are never given offense to the same degree as the other groups. Here's your average EOO characterization matrix:

Ah, the 1930s, when you could call a movie "The Gorgeous Hussy" (with big, smiling faces on the poster, no less) and nobody would bat an eye.

"John Adams" made political bureaucracy pretty damn interesting and entertaining. As did "Lincoln".

Because screw artistic interpretation and perspectives, right?

Yeah, how DARE he make a movie that is thoughtful and creative in terms of its character and style? We want Hulk Smash!

I get it! You're pretending that you're funny!

And then he has "Ready Player One" next

Obligatory "Big Fucking Gun" post.

It doesn't work WITH context.

I've always thought Michael Shannon would have been perfect casting.

Tom Hardy for Dan Janjigian!

Shamefully?

Because art?

And doesn't Coriolanus have more battles written in than Macbeth?

Given how often he repeats the line "Just because you're offended doesn't mean you're right", it seems as if he genuinely believes that being offensive (or just an asshole) MAKES him right.
