They’ve been around a lot longer than you think and many have been successful. Here’s one that will blow your mind - an elevated and inverted monorail that goes over streets, canals and even over electrified street cars. This film is nearly 120 years old. And by the way, the system is STILL IN USE.

Monorails aren’t necessarily a worse idea, but they’re a more space efficient idea in the case of static routes. Roadways for cars can be built above, and monorails can be hung from below. It’s just a matter of planning.

Sadly planning is something American traffic and civil engineers seem to have forgotten about since

Well, soon you can sample a truly Boring mode of transportation!

We used to go every year when I was a kid, a couple of times we stayed at one of the hotels attached to the monorail network. If you’re lucky enough to sit in the driver’s car it’s kind of fun. And it was always interesting to me that the handrails on either side of the door doubled as structure for the door

I prefer the Aerotrain. Basically the same concept, but the train uses conventional hovercraft technology instead of magnets.

This article is just bait for Simpsons memes.

This article is like a mule with a spinning wheel:

Just a warning, don’t re-read it in the hopes that you’ll figure it out. I’m even MORE confused. I guess the whole point is to watch a video?

I am less than 100% sure what this article was supposed to be about.

If you really care, start with your state legislature.

Poll:

I was thinking the same, or if not the Roadster then the Cybertruck. I was even thinking of Musk making sure he’s either Devon or Wilton Knight.

Is there a Chrome extension that gets rid of the shitty slideshow on Kinja?

EVERYBODY SHUT UP FOR A SECOND, THE GUY THAT WROTE AND PERFORMED A SONG CALLED “FUCK YOU” HAS SOMETHING TO SAY ABOUT CODED SUBTLETY IN MUSIC

I purchased The Bulldog from Amazon when I was stuck in a hospital bed for two months. Fantastic!

But you can give those people reasonable advice without giving information that is blatantly false.

Well they withheld his 2018 pay. So arguably more reason to be filing suit, given the amount of money withheld.

I think you’re framing this irresponsibly. It’s more like he got the job, was like hey something’s up, talked to the correct authorities and got the company to fix it, and now that it’s obviously awkward he’s going to go get a new job.

I am waiting for the NFLPA to strike the obscenely wealthy NFL and demand good pensions and healthcare for all players, to demand safety protocols to protect from head injuries, to demand guaranteed contracts and to demand a proper grievance venue for such obvious discrimination as has been proven against Colin

Maybe it’s because I have a degree in compsci and math, but I was really hoping this article would end with an actual number (“7 times per month”) based on the headline instead of a big wishy-washy “It depends”
