Sadly my issue of late is that Google Play says an app is compatible with my Nook Color (1st generation), it says that it will be installed shortly, but never installs. None of my apps are updating at all. I don't know if it's my Nook or Google Play.

Extended warranties: If you can reasonably afford to replace the product if it fails outside of warranty, then don't buy an extended warranty. If the product or brand has a great reputation for working for years beyond warranty, don't buy an extended warranty.

The government isn't forcing you to do anything. It is forcing manufacturers to make more efficient bulbs, however. While we have a lot of freedoms in America, you do not personally have a right to squander a shared public resource. Every year our national grid suffers from brownouts and blackouts because our energy

(sorry, this didn't reply to the right person. Deleting text)

HA! My kids have been doing their own laundry since they were 10. They have it easy with a washer and a dryer. When I was a kid, we grew up poor and didn't live in apartments or houses that had washer/dryer hook-ups. In spring/summer/fall we washed our clothes in the bath tub and took them out on a line to dry or hung

I always manage to lose the twist tie or clip, so do my kids. It's genetic. :D

I used to spend quite a bit of time, years ago, trying to deal with web sites that did this. Eventually, I decided that if they don't want me to read their content, I really don't care what's there. Sites like this are not the only fountains of information. My time is better spent visiting communities that welcome me

I was trying to think of a way to summarize my feelings, I think you hit the nail on the head. My goal as a parent (16+ years now) has been to create a person who is self-sufficient, educated, and will become a contributor to their world, if not a leader. "Don't be an asshole" goes a long way towards that. When they

On one hand, a fairly boring hack from BenHeck. On the other hand, major props for building an elegant, beautiful walnut case instead of the really boring plastic or oh-so-dated all-metal case.

There's a law against hacking together your own console?

Well, so much for Kanji getting rid of all that spam, eh?

If it is fully grey inside, then it is well done. If there's a little pink inside, then it's medium-well. The more pink it is, the more towards rare it is. I was introduced to steak tartar when I was 16, it was cooked for me by President George H.W. Bush's personal chef. It was the most delicious meal I've ever had

So, don't buy a steak from a US meat processing plant - which has a mandatory USDA meat inspector. Instead buy it from a local farm which has no meat inspector at all. BRILLIANT!

You can blame the cable companies if you like, but this move ultimately comes from big-money content producers who are requiring the cable companies to encrypt their channels to begin with. This move won't win me back to cable or satellite TV, I cut that cord two years ago. I see no need to pay for useless

Unless you like watching a lot (and I mean A LOT) of religious programming, there's no decent C-Band programming out there that you can watch without paying a significant subscription fee (and with even less content than cable). Your satellite dish will not work as a TV antenna, either. It's not surface area that

I bought it at Radio Shack about 5 years ago. Next time I remember I'll try to look up the number.

It's not a lie they had to tell. The companies tell the credit reporting agencies what they do and do not want reported. I once had a debt with AT&T that was incurred because my mother defaulted on a bill that she paid, on a line that I opened under my name for her. My mother later declared bankruptcy and had the

If your wallet is already lost or stolen, they already have your address, unless you don't keep any personal ID in your wallet. How many people do that? If they're intent on robbing your home as well (and, again, how many criminals ALSO do that?) they're probably not going to be worried about whether or not they can

"This is a lot quicker and less annoying than it sounds."
