Does this count?
The Josie and the Pussycats soundtrack is pretty much straight-up rock and roll but the r&b/new jack swing parodies of the faux boy-band "Du Jour" are pretty awesome.

Bon mot?
This was clever but they seem to be confused about the definition of "bon mot."
Excessive?
There's a lavish coffee table book about David Gilmour's guitar. A book. About a guitar.
The ol' Bamboo
Too bad this sounds lame, because Van Dyke really deserves his due.
@Fudge I felt indifferent about typing "hardcore=sucky." I usually feel that when I type self-evident equations like sun=hot; grass=green; Raisinets > Goobers.
What?-core
I'm always surprised to see everyone waving the "hardcore" flags around this band. Because they don't sound even remotely like any other band that gets tagged with the (useless and limited) sobriquet "hardcore."
I second the Gabler book.
"Character" is really the most important aspect of sitcoms. The "situation" part is a bit of a misnomer. Face it, plot is not what makes Dick Van Dyke or Herman Munster funny. No one remembers the plots of "Taxi" or "Cheers" as much as the remember the wacky quirks of Reverend Jim or Cliff Clavin.
McMillian and Wife?
It's a combination of changing technology and aesthetic preferences. Until fairly recently a lot of local stations used tape for playback which left a lot of room for mangling. Now, I think everyone grabs stuff off satellite direct to digital. If you worked at a local station in the last twenty years and you were in…
"Rockford Files" first season box set + bourbon = hella great weekend.
^ "Jumping" *Ahem*
Jumpiug the Fonzie
Not to be too obvious, but "…moving beyond the basic premise…to ensure a long shelf life" sounds like as good a definition of "Jumping the shark" as any.
@vandermonde You are giving people much too much credit. I think plenty of folks believe accounts of "Obama death panels" and "abortionplexes" are genuine.
Ask a kid what a Muppet is and you'll see their name recognition is less-than-stellar these days. I don't think this is really a kids film.
The "find-the-movie-location" game…
..is much more fun to play with Google Maps. Open a movie in a window and Google Maps in another. If you can't see a street sign in the film, look up business names you see on Google. It might take a few tries but you can almost always pin down a pretty exact location. I just did…
Little known fact: "Frankenstein" was the name of the creator, NOT the monster. The monster was named "Phil."
ILM's Frankenstein…
…was talked about a few million years ago. An animated, cgi version based on Berni Wrightson's Frankenstein portfolio. That woulda been the cat's pajamas.
Get off my lawn…
I'm 50 and I gave up on most folks my embracing anything new a long time ago. I've spent a lot of time listening to new music and working with new bands i various capacities. That said, I have come to the conclusion lately that most forms of what we used to embrace as "rock" music are officially over.…
Jerry's reaction to Larry King was pretty smarmy.
