Yeah, I agree that the Germs thing is very revisionist. They were more spectacle than music and have not aged well.

Shocked! Shocked!
Gilbert's book " Rubber Balls and Liquor"is coming in April. I can't wait to read it.
One of the best days ever was when I heard a radio spot for a local comic book shop talking about how the first appearance of Wolverine in some Hulk comic was going for $1000. I laughed at any putz who would pay that much for a comic book that I paid a quarter for. And then I realized it was sitting in a box in my…
Maron is a bit tough on Gallagher but Gallagher really does come off bitter and ugly without any good reason. It's a bit of a toss up who the villain was in the podcast. The strange paradox of Gallagher being a pretty funny act yet totally unfunny in real life makes for a good listen.
Why anyone would bother with film school anymore is beyond me. Get a Canon 7D and makes some movies. It's a lot cheaper.
Collectors suck.
I don't really care if I have the rare, first-pressing vinyl with the original cover. I want to hear the song, not win some absurd competition against other nerds. If I want to read the comic, I'll buy a reprint. I don't miss having a "want list." I like being able to get almost anything I want, when…
I vote we bring back the appellation "comix."
I'm just glad ANYONE likes "Neighbors." I always thought I was special.
Screw Chuck Norris…
This sounds like the manliest book ever.
They had a weird Kiss-like stage with ramps and video screens showing home movies they shot from the tour bus. By that time, with Mick gone, they were a bit slick and predictable. The show wasn't awful really, you just had the feeling that the wave had already crashed. On an up note: Graham Parker was the opener.
That's just the way I wool.
Everything by the Clash is awesome. Except that.
"Neighbors" is pretty traumatizing if you're expecting the "Blues Brothers." I've always thought it was a pretty solid, freaky movie and I'm glad Judd Apatow thinks so.
I disagree
I don't understand how listening to music can be like "being in a car crash." That's plain stupid.
Sean O'Neal
Sean O'Neal is a snarky wise-ass. He rules the internet with his snarky, wise-assness. Congrats to him.
Innarestin'
Bourdain had a mobster vs. restaurant owner short story published someplace that was actually quite good.
Bummer…
"Tadpole" was one hell of a film. Overlooked and obscure but watch it anyway.
Eh cute.
I watched an episode based on this review. Never even heard of the thing before. It was cute. I might tune in again. At least the characters are toned down a notch compared to the "Real Housewives…" "Jersey Shore" types.
"Graphic novel" has always worked OK for me (yeah, it's a bit lame but we're apparently stuck with it.)
I'm sort of afraid to hit the western branch of Leonard's output. I like lots of westerns when it comes to film, but as far as literary genres, I'm put off by stuff that takes place in historical settings — especially when they're mostly mythological. That applies to various "classic" sci-fi and other genres. But…
