The problem with your argument is that "most" enthusiasts can't afford to own or maintain a car with a legitimately good DCT / PDK / E-gear / F1 / whatever automated manual. I've never even had the chance to drive one. My take: flappy paddles = performance, third pedal = fun factor. YMMV.
