Statehood is meaningless as far as FEMA is concerned. FEMA could just as easily operate at the speed of The Dotard’s neurons for a catastrophe in a blue state or if a majority POC section of a red state were demolished.

Nope. It’s not their job. Seriously.
Well more like firefighters reading a rulebook from 200 years ago saying they can only save houses that have a yellow mailbox out front.
The fuck?
My wife has a wonderful phrase for this: killing the squirrel.
Damn coming forward with this is no easy task and he has just shown the world how tough he is.
I love that first Simone and now Morgan are both adopted world champions!
I wrote this in the Deadspin article, but my daughter is 5 and has stated gymnastics. She wears glasses. Imagine how delighted she was to when I told her the gymnastics world champ wears glasses too. Morgan’s a girl of colour too- like my daughter. You never see sporty girls in glasses. My little girl is going to get…
Okay, this young woman is charming af. And I respect the hell out of someone who can practice all those fucking flips while wearing glasses—I can barely keep mine on running to catch the bus!
If one looks at the entire commercial, however, it’s clear that the ad was trying to show that women of different ethnicities could use the product
I wonder how this would have played with a white to black motif? Why have this kind of advertisement at all? You’re just asking for it. Why can’t you just show someone who washes their hands and arms and saying ooh smooth :/.. Dove is trying too hard to sell soap..
Was anyone under the impression that soap wouldn’t work on different skin colors to begin with?
The outrage wasn’t over “screenshots”, but an initial short version Dove released that, just like in the full add, featured a Black woman turning into a White woman at the start of the ad.
Sigh. You weren’t the “first model” , you were the “before” photo.
I mean that’s cool. I personally was like wypipo gon white, what are you gonna do? I think the larger concern is how dumb it is that there is so little representation of dark skin black women that she feel the ad no matter the outcome is still a win.
It’s weird because she admits in the op-ed the outrage is justified regarding why it’s racist but then performs gold medal mental gymnastics to defend it.
“Again, I was the first model to appear in the ad,”
“People congratulated me for being the first to appear, for looking fabulous, and for representing Black Girl Magic. I was proud,”
“I had been excited to be a part of the commercial and promote the strength and beauty of my race, so for it to be met with widespread outrage was upsetting”
Jones adamant the policy is in best interest of players, who “need consequences” to stand up to peer pressure
