On its own, HBO could probably do something like that. But you also have to remember that Time Warner (owner of HBO) owns other cable channels, and if HBO did anything to sever ties with the normal way of doing things, the cable companies would probably refuse to air those other channels. That has to at least be part…
The Wire is a good example of a show made hugely profitable by DVD sales. With the low ratings it got when it aired, it's difficult for an outsider to say how many people subscribed to HBO because of it, but it has sold (and continue to sell) a shitload of DVDs. Same goes for the shows with more viewers as they aired,…
Regarding a forum; I remember answering a question form at this site where one of the questions were if we were interested in a permanent forum in addition to the comment section. So, at least the people behind the site has thought about the possibility.
FYI, HBO has 27m subscribers in avarage in the US. But I agree with you, except for the investments required to do it, I don't really see a good reason for them to be selling their original programming for peanuts to foreign markets instead of trying to go into those markets themselves.
I don't know about the Italian Amazon site, but in general there's a pretty big delay on that stuff outside the country America (like, until the DVD is released).
Well, problem with China is that the government doesn't give a shit about copyrights law, so piracy will be more widespread there than anywhere else (Russia isn't far behind) until they fix that. The second problem is censorship: Only so many American movies will be released in China each year, and they pick and…
I echo this, easily the new show I'm looking forward to the most this year.
My grandfather had it the last 15 years before he died, and I'm young enough for it to be all I remember him as. It's a fucking awful disease, the way your mind often stays sharp longer than your body is able to communicate.
Yeah, my favourite QLs are always the ones they do for the worst games, like http://www.giantbomb.com/qu…
@avclub-6c6094f256f51e83fe02bce6091163e7:disqus Yahoo has transcended trolling to a point where almost every single post is over the top hateful. Seriously, the politics section of that side is the best argument if you want to argue that Democracy doesn't work. I once thought about starting a Reposted Yahoo Comments…
Pornhub is your next destination, young Padawan.

Old school trolling. Lobsters 1 would've been proud!
You gotta pay the troll toll to get into this boy's hole!
Thanks for mentioning this, I never would've remembered why she seemed so familiar without that comment. Yeah, her Loreal commercials have been running for years and years here in Norway too.
Let's not forget that creepy ventriloquist dummy called Stevil that tried to steal Urkel's soul/kill him. I think it was a Halloween episode. That show took a weird turn.
I love how insane Family Matters got in the last few seasons. Urkel going to space? Why the fuck not!
Giant Bomb's Quick Looks are a genius way to decide if a game is for you or not. I find that most previews on other sites tend to be a bit too much like commercials (like over at Gametrailers), but the Giantbomb crew always seem honest (except when it's a QL with a developer that isn't Double Fine) and it's so much…
