They told me that I should sleep on my left side, but not to worry if I woke on my back... which really raised the question; if it’s okay for me to _be asleep_ on my back and wake in that position, why is it not okay for me to go to sleep on my back? No answer. Anyway it has now become too uncomfortable to sleep on my

I am also 38 weeks pregnant! My solution is that every time I wake up in discomfort, I turn over, which is a difficult 6-step process that takes a full minute or so, and have a go on the other side. Except when I need to pee, obviously; then I just land on the other side when I come back from the toilet. It’s working

Oh wow! Congratulations to you and your adorable giant bowling ball! I hope you get that massage. My partner has added weights to his exercise routine for the express purposes of picking baby up.

Thank you! We’re about to have our first, in a small apartment. I’m interested in parenting strategies that foster independence and understanding of the rules, and anyway we don’t have the space to have whole rooms or areas totally child-centred. Of course we’ll babyproof anything actually dangerous, but strategies

Thank you so much! Look out for me here on SNS, I’ll try post the news the Saturday after!

This is my favourite! I bet they’ll talk about that for years.

Oh noooo! Surprise monster baby T__T

Hi Bananabunny! I’m doing fine, just getting ready to give birth any day now and trying to deal with all the attendant physical (and mental!) discomfort. But miraculously, whatever crazy mixture of hormones pregnancy gives me means I haven’t had a full fatigue flare through the whole pregnancy; I’ve had ups and down

When I came down or off antidepressants, I had to do it reeeeally slowly (I got mad vertigo and shit when I tried to do it at the “normal” rate). Like snapping the tablets in half so I could do intermediate intervals, and spending twice as long at each interval. Everyone reacts differently. I don’t know what your dose

Sending best wishes to you and Ollie, Maya. I hope he’s just got a really minor infection and he bounces back at once, and I hope when it’s his time to go that you two get a proper and peaceful goodbye together.

I really second this! I meet so many tourists (my workplace is also a major tourist attraction) who are doing four things today and travelling 2 hours tomorrow to do four more things, every day, for the whole trip, and I’m like, how is this a holiday? I get that you might not get many opportunities to see another

Baby clothes are basically the best. And each individual item is quite cheap! It’s so easy to get totally carried away!! Thank you for affirming my choices!

It’s mostly working for me (I think?), but that would explain why it seems like a really quiet week!!

I love the kitty memorial, it’s so clever and sweet! Your work is gorgeous!

Do you have an advisor or supervisor? Does your institution have student support services, like a tutor’s office or advisory office or union? I know with small programs like MFAs often are, people can kind of fall through the cracks of student support a bit, especially if the institution is primarily focused on a

Holy shit. That story of you as a baby is terrifying! I’m with Trim, can you cut contact?

Yeah, I joined a freecycle group and asked around a few baby-having friends, and got three or four big bags of assorted baby clothes. So I sorted through all of them and divided into “good to go”, “dye”, and “pass on immediately”, and I’ve assembled I think a decent starting wardrobe! Until this week, I’d spent all of

Maybe there should be moviettes like novelettes; ~1 hour long, you can see one for like 3/5th the price of a movie, or a double bill (with ten minute break in between) for the same price as a movie.

Eh, I would lean towards “dumb sucker” to be totally honest, but the important thing is if you get something out of it that’s worth the money you spent, you know? If it’s worth $[Reiki healing price] to you to try something new and/or be the focus of someone’s attention for an hour, then you should go for it, because

I’m not in Toronto but I hope you can find someone. I dunno how it works there, but here, you need a psychiatrist for diagnosis and prescription of medication, but you get a therapist / counsellor for CBT and general talk therapy to address anxiety and bad patterns and such. It does sound like you need some help
