It’s pretty unlikely that Mars developed any life beyond simple microbes on it’s own. Mars’ core cooled far too long ago and Mars lost the ability to maintain it’s atmosphere. It took billions of years for simple life to develop on Earth and by that time Mars was already “dead”.
