I understand what you are saying, but I’d imagine that to a black person, a white guy waving the Confederate flag is a message of “I wish that you black people were once again property of white people.”

I disagree with the “little to differentiate.” Each block that comes out has its own theme, its own unique mechanics, and its own stories. Until a couple years ago every new block that came out had its own novel or even series of novels.

Magic was kind of garbage for competitive play back then because they had basically no concept of balance (ancestral recall v healing salve, anyone?) It is a much better game now than it was then, although I do think it peaked several years ago around Scars, Inn, & RTR.
