Ford Flex. I really hope Ford doesn’t kill it. Instead, swap in the 450 HP gen-2 EcoBoost 3.5L and matching 10-speed transmission, add in the bolstered bucket seats from the Taurus SHO, the magnetic dampers with pothole-algorithm from the Fusion Sport, and the torque-biasing rear diff from the Focus RS. With drift

The 1984-1987 Pontiac Fiero.

A base engine. Say the 3.6 or a smaller V8 similar in power numbers to a Hemi. Say around 350 or so. That would have brought the price down and allowed them to offer a lower trim level. One of the complaints about the SS on that article Dave was referring to about the SS was a lot of people hated that it came loaded.

Old V-8 - LS3. Could have used the modern one LT1; direct injection and cylinder deactivation among other improvements. The Corvette/Camaro V-8 has more HP/torque and is much more efficient. It’s not like the later V-8 is hand assembled like an AMG; it’s an automated procedure.

The thing about the Sonic is that even the one I have, the LT trim, it handles. Apparently Corvette engineers had a had in developing the handling and suspension and it shows. It just sucks its not pushing more power.

Cadillac XLR. The idea was great, and it’s actually a “fine” car, but it could have done so much more. The use of the LH2 instead of an LS engine still makes no sense to me, for example. Oil leaks are common, as with all Northstars. The magnetic suspension can also start leaking and fail, which is $$$$$$ to fix.

The Chevrolet Vega. With the might of 1960's era GM behind it, this could have been the car that dominated the rapidly growing subcompact class throughout the 70's. Instead, due to weird decisions, cost cutting, and poor execution, it began the slow decline of GM.

A car close to my heart, Chevy Sonic RS. Such a let down all around. Comparison tests like to pit it against other hot or even lukewarm hatches and its not on their level. It has the looks and the turbo, but its all show and no go. Chevy could have made this a real FiST competitor. Instead the only thing that makes it

I imagine this busting through the room a la Kool Aid man style anytime that question is asked

Honda CR-Z. If it had managed to be an actual successor to the original CRX... what a car that could have been.

The Genesis Coupe

s2000 CR. Was a great car and was a record beater, but I felt like the CR could have been way more inline with the Type R heritage. More power, bigger brakes, weight reduction, and chassis stiffening.

So many questions, the answer is always Fiero (when it’s not Miata).

A couple of days, there was an article about the Saturn Sky. That had so much potential.

Or we we all have super rad engine swapped rides dog

This is a dangerous game your playing having Jalops seek out cheap cars on CL. You know how easily we can be enticed by the lure of a project and the dream of what we could do to/with it.

Obvi.

My weekend car, the Nissan 350Z Roadster. Super reliable, plenty of power and you only have two seats so no one can bum a ride! Best part is you can pick one up for 6 - 8K all day long.
