Europe decided to give their 3 Olympics bids to the 3 top finishers in the World Cup. The other 7 quarterfinalists are European teams so they automatically had to win today to finish in the top 3. 

I’ve seen it called before so I wouldn't have been surprised if they did call it. They were pretty loose for most of the game, though. Several studs up challenges didn't get cards, for sure. 

Half the evil of having this game as a quarterfinal is that France is now eliminated from Olympics qualifying as well.  So I guess it’s a crêpe and a gallette.

Sri Lanka is batting first. They’ve scored 194 runs. There are 13 more pitches left to bowl, and 2 more outs (their innings is over whenever either of those things happen). They’re disappointed in this performance.

They’ve been pretty open about including dance sports. Rhythmic gymnastics is less athletic than ballroom dancing and it's been in the Olympics for some time. 

I know a ballroom dancer who does this. Backwards, in heels. 

Between this and Jozy's bicycle kick we had some decent soccer highlights in what should have been a slow night. 

My understanding is that most of the owners know Mark Jackson to be insufferable even without considering his homophobia. Is it blackballing if nobody likes you?

I think it's great that we can get formal changes to rules that for too long have been down to referees' discretion. The home field effect is well known and documented and having these rules that are coming applied on the ref's whim make it too easy for the crowd to influence the outcome.

US Men played on Saturday night but the only post on the team since then on this site was this piece linking them to the women's team pay, despite having already voiced their support for the women. It feels like an attempt at making a narrative with the men being used as some sort of straw man -- "look, if these guys…
