Start watching soccer, because it's definitely an American sport.

It’s not a questionable VAR. If the linesman sees an attacker's foot offside they make the call. There's no need for them to be as vigilant with VAR as an option, and they've been told specifically not to flag if it's close.

Conservatives are idiots when they try to say that Kaepernick was a poor player.  He led a team to the Super Bowl, threw with 60% accuracy over his career, and has 72 TDs against 30 INTs, plus he ran for a significant amount of his yards.  There hasn’t been a week since he was forced out of the league that every

Except they traded away their young superstar and cleared cap space for big signings. Maybe they can do that again soon with only smaller contracts to unload. They don't have young superstars to invest in and they did so poorly at investing in the last one that he practically begged his way to Dallas.

Richardson, Harris, Horford, and Simmons. 4 SEC guys in the starting lineup and none of them are Wildcats.

That part makes a little more sense, then. But you’d think they could figure out who they could send to Palestine before finalizing groups, as well. UEFA has to move things around to accommodate Israel, after all.

If you think that’s bad, look at what the Asian federation (AFC) used for their World Cup qualifying. North Korea is leagues better than Thailand but they didn’t even get to the qualifying tournament, the Asian Cup, because they lost on point differential to South Korea in the qualifying group.  Thailand had to face

Other being “not US”, in case you’re not being deliberately obtuse.

Europe decided to give their 3 Olympics bids to the 3 top finishers in the World Cup. The other 7 quarterfinalists are European teams so they automatically had to win today to finish in the top 3.

I’ve seen it called before so I wouldn't have been surprised if they did call it. They were pretty loose for most of the game, though. Several studs up challenges didn't get cards, for sure.

Half the evil of having this game as a quarterfinal is that France is now eliminated from Olympics qualifying as well.  So I guess it’s a crêpe and a gallette.

Sri Lanka is batting first. They’ve scored 194 runs. There are 13 more pitches left to bowl, and 2 more outs (their innings is over whenever either of those things happen). They’re disappointed in this performance.

They’ve been pretty open about including dance sports. Rhythmic gymnastics is less athletic than ballroom dancing and it's been in the Olympics for some time.

I know a ballroom dancer who does this. Backwards, in heels.

Between this and Jozy's bicycle kick we had some decent soccer highlights in what should have been a slow night.

My understanding is that most of the owners know Mark Jackson to be insufferable even without considering his homophobia. Is it blackballing if nobody likes you?

I think it's great that we can get formal changes to rules that for too long have been down to referees' discretion. The home field effect is well known and documented and having these rules that are coming applied on the ref's whim make it too easy for the crowd to influence the outcome.

I make way too many references to FLASH! AHHHHHHHH! in my daily life so I hope he pulls this project through and I hope he uses the song.

US Men played on Saturday night but the only post on the team since then on this site was this piece linking them to the women's team pay, despite having already voiced their support for the women. It feels like an attempt at making a narrative with the men being used as some sort of straw man -- "look, if these guys
