Her next-door neighbor called because he was worried about her. He saw the door ajar and the lights on at a very odd hour of the night/early morning, and he knew she was at home watching her young nephew alone. I can’t be mad at him; he thought his neighbor needed some help and he did what he could to try to help her

Fuck you! I’ll use any goddamn language I fucking choose to. My decision to use or not use profanity doesn’t do a goddamn thing to change the fact that I am right. If you are using my language as an excuse to dismiss my point it is you, not me who is the problem. This bullshit is worthy of every bit of profanity

Seriously—here in Seattle the cops openly tell you they don’t bother to investigate or even respond to property crimes. And that’s because when they do arrest someone the DA’s office can’t be arsed to file paperwork on it and they have to let them go. But all cops seem to have the time to gun down perfect strangers

A young woman has lost her life? Like did she misplace it when she went to the motherfucking store? Did she accidentally kick it under a chair and her cat pushed it back and she couldn’t find it because she forgot where it dropped?

This is the worst part. So he was standing outside, with a whole fuckin house between him and whatever was going on inside, and because he perceived a threat WHILE HE WAS STILL OUTSIDE OF THE HOUSE, had to fire a kill shot. There was a whole house between them! Even IF someone was standing inside and pointed a gun at

-the officer peering inside one of the woman’s windows using a flashlight, apparently seeing a person standing in the room and yelling for them to “Put your hands up. Show me your hands,” then immediately firing his weapon. Jefferson was shot through the window from outside the home. The video then goes black.

“...says a gun was found in the home...”

Also, possibly shot for sleeping while black because Officer Chadsworth “feared for his life.”

“It makes me feel as though the police can knock down your door, and drag you out of your home at anytime. This is an incident that made me feel like I’m a prisoner in my own home.”

This is clearly harassment. Holy shit. Also, how can you arrest someone for loitering on private property (whether they live there or not)? Wouldn’t someone have to confirm that they were trespassing? This is so much frightening bullshit.

Well, but if you’re an hourly worker who will lose pay if you go to jury duty (I’ve been there; thankfully I was a well-paid hourly worker so I could afford to take the hit), or you have PTO but your employer makes you use it for jury duty and you have it earmarked for something else or you have none left to spare, I

It is a necessary evil to serve jury duty - especially as melanated folk who have historically been absent from the jury selection of a jury “of our peers” during trials where we were being victimized as a defendant. It is important to show and do the duty if you are chosen. HOWEVER the jail time, the probation,

Did the judge hug him afterwards?

Go fuck yourself tomato.

TPTB doesn’t want that. They want people ignorant because that makes them malleable and susceptible to believing propaganda.

Ten days is extremely harsh for that. Other reports indicated the judge just seated one of the alternate jurors and moved on. A criminal conviction and probation is also ridiculous for a simple contempt. Most other states wouldn’t burden someone without a criminal record with a conviction for something like this.

The young brother made a mistake, should have called, etc. But, damn, the judge went in on his sentencing him. Way too harsh.  Yes, you should take jury duty very serious but, goddamn, Judge, really?

All of this. And while the story is being framed as a guy being jailed for oversleeping, apparently after waking up, he decided to go into work instead? I served on a federal jury not too long ago, and when they were prepping the jury pool, they went to great lengths to impart the importance of staying in touch with

Where’s Judge Tammy and her hair stroking sheriff’s bailiff when you really need them?
