I heard Janis Joplin echoing through the whole album, but especially in Don’t Hurt Yourself.

Never give up, never surrender!

Bless your future hospice work. Hospices do amazing work with moody and often ungrateful (no family wants to face the fact that someone they love is dying) clientele, and they deserve All The Things for doing it with grace and kindness.

I evidently spent far too long waking up a little, asking the nurse for the time, then going back to sleep and repeating.

Welp, now I know what JK Rowling meant when she described Narcissa Malfoy as looking like she had a bad smell under her nose - that's pretty much exactly what Heidi Cruz looks like. Not snarking on her looks, just her perpetual 'I'm pretty sure I just smelled pig shit' expression.

My husband’s last name is common s clay, extremely short and easy to spell, but the number of people who have trouble with it rivals those who have trouble with my twice as long and somewhat incomprehensible Dutch last name. I boggles the mind.

Oh, and I ended up having some of the internal stitches pass through my vagina. They warn you about it, but still... yuck.

Eight week long period featuring a golf ball size clot. On the plus side, this led to very heavy bleeding and an ER visit and an eventual diagnosis of endometrial hyperplasia - I had the period in may/june and had the entirety of my reproductive system removed at the end of August. Scary and gross, but the end was

We did a tiny private ceremony in our priestess back yard, in our SCA garb. Then we had a blowout party with free booze and fun for the kids (run by my amazing sister). So much fun, so little anxiety.

The antivaxxer argument seems to boil down to “I would rather my child die of a preventable disease than possibly be autistic.” Given that both my husband and godson have ASD, that is some offensive shit. Even if I didn’t know anyone with a spectrum disorder, it would still be disgusting and offensive.

I'm just gonna... go cry for a bit.

I was constantly being surprised by my period - I once had one that lasted eight weeks, and sometimes went five or six without one. Turns out that was a bad thing, but the problem got caught in time, and I got my fondest wish: no more periods AND no more pregnancy phobia. Surgical menopause FTW!!!

Pearls. They are worth the extra cost, believe me.

My mother in law had cancer in her meninges. One of the few times I ever felt sorry for the abusive hitch.

Impressive pun!

They spelled Satan right, this is an improvement over some signs/graffiti I’ve seen. (hint: if you’re condemning Satin, you’re making a fashion statement, not a religious one)

Given what’s been going on here in MI, he really does look like a moderate.

How sad is it that my first thought was ‘hey, they spelled satan right!’

Not gonna lie, I would probably have the exact same expression on my face if I were ever blessed by the presence of Bonnie Raitt...

While I would love to boycott the whole thing, MHP has a hell of a monopoly on major care around here. My primary is at an unaffiliated clinic, but even my dentist is at a Mercy clinic. The closest non-MHP hospital is in Grand Haven. We don’t have a lot of other options.
