"While "Girl Power" is largely associated with Riot Grrrl" Is this sarcastic and I can't tell? Who da fuck hears girl power and doesn't think Spice Girls? I was like 2 when this song came out and still associate girl power with spice girls.

Um. It sounds like this study failed to control for wealth. The simple fact is wealthy kids do better, and obviously on average gay parents will be more wealthy than straight parents because of the funds required for adoption/serogates.

Am I crazy or was I wrong to think it was always kind of 'the point' that the show wasn't particularly realistic in its portral of prison-horrors?

I'd agree Ethan Hawke is a bit overzealous in his estimation. Probably safer to say affluent, well-education, east coast teens (like his kids and their friends) are less homophobic now, especially when compared with lower-middle class teens from Texas (where he's from).

I stand corrected

Mixed race. His eyes are genetically impossible otherwise.

I don't understand your point. In most western nations college is much cheaper than in the US, and in many instances totally free. Why is it a bad thing that the Government foots a large part of the bill? And moreover, why would you advocate dramatic budget slashing when 1. superior higher education is literally one

Jeez, Clinton is so self-serving its gotten boring at this point. I don't understand why I'm basically going to be forced to vote for her in 2016 when there are so many AMAZING potential candidates on the left with some astounding and invigorating ideas.

My high school didn't have a dress code (and made a big deal about letting us know we didn't have any sort of dress code), but students 100% all the time wore appropriate clothing. I didn't realize it at the time, but the school simply replaced institutional pressure (cool to rebel against) with our own social

Simple psych student here, but from everything I've learned you seem to be coming from the totally wrong place. Your perspective seems incorrect and uninformed. Its clear even from just your choice of language.

I love how you can always kind of tell when a school has major culpability in an incident when they throw out huge super harsh punishments at the kids involved rather than addressing any real issues of consequence. Bonus points when they can attribute it to an 'epidemic' that happens "everywhere."

Don't blame the school, they're public, blame the church/constitution

I'm just gonna say it, that kid's dad is clearly gay. Like super gay. Like, 100% Gay.

Yeah but straight white male researchers never seriously acknowledge sexism in research. They leave that to female researchers (it makes it easier to snicker about the value of their academic contributions, then deny them tenure).

Yeah I agree. But I do know they tried to control for how threatened the women felt in the experience by making sure it was in a public setting, the attractive participants were college students asking fellow college students on a college campus quad in the day, and they also tried asking "would you go on a date with

It's so boring when the media obsessively follows a story long after the initial hook is waaayy gone.

Nice idea, but actually does more harm than good.

Woah. Always thought motion capture stuff on actors in animation was over-rated. But looking at the side-to-side comparisons of his emphatic acting with that boring, expressionless cartoon face, I'm amazed at how much of a difference it probably would have made if they had motion captured his acting.
