If you guys knew the true feelings of most developers you would stop gaming all together. Does that give a pass to this one? No, but don’t just pick and choose when you want to be upset. 

As I started my post with, everyone is free to be offended by whatever they feel offended by. And the opposite is also true: you don’t decide what should and should not offend me, personally. And also, don’t assume that I don’t care through conformism or a lack of thought. I don’t feel offended by this sort of trope…

But seriously, this one hurts. John Madden was football to me in every way; he was on the biggest games in the booth (and was the most endearing personality with his jovial Captain Obvious mannerisms), and the Madden games basically educated me on the sport itself.
