As the “Rich Guy Who Picks Up The Dinner Tab”, I don’t mind doing it as I can easily afford it. My friends are into food and it’s great to check out places that we ordinarily would not dine at because it is outside their price bracket. In return, they regularly suggest other places and pick up the tab, so it all evens…
I’m nowhere near mega-rich, but I’ve got an okay cushion so I don’t mind regularly picking up the tab for friends who might not be there yet. I do, however, start to feel resentful when they’re happy to go to town on my dime as a matter of course. I’m happy to pick up the tab at the place that serves diamond-crusted…
As someone who was once a kid who was taken to taverns for meals on occasion, I will tell you that a lot of them are very uncomfortable for children. They’re confusing, there’s an atmosphere of adults being out of control, there’s nothing for kids to engage with. I hated it, honestly.
I’m surprised commenters aren’t asking to share a fork from the idiots, I mean childrens, menu.
As a former server, I got no problem getting fresh silverware for you. We had a plate with extra so you didn’t have to unroll a whole set. As a diner, I’m cleaning the fork and the knife. With my mouth.
If they don’t have choices you want to eat on the adult’s menu and what you want to eat is on the kid’s menu, then go for it, but I question why you’d be at that restaurant in the first place.
When I eat out it is to eat something that a restaurant can prepare better or in a more interesting way than I can at home. I can make my own Kraft Mac and Cheese or grilled cheese sandwich at home just fine. Who would do this and why?
Nah, brah. It’s a column guiding you into not being a garbage customer at restaurants.
Is it not, though? I mean, it would take a lot for me not to leave my standard, “carry the decimal, multiply by two” tip. Like the waitron would have to get anti-Semitic at me or something. So the price of the meal I order really does determine the tip.
I have eating disorder issues. There are times when my stomach is probably slightly bigger than my fist. (And I don’t have big hands.) I have no problem with saying I’m full and taking the rest home. That’s bonus food.
I can see ordering off the kids’ menu in a restaurant being tacky. But I’ll be damned if anyone judges me from ordering off the kids’ menu when I’m getting room service...
- The first challenge was designed for the alpha males to get picked, and immediately gave an advantage to the purple tribe, because they got to see everything the orange tribe did, and then immediately duplicate it (i.e. pick alpha, pick another alpha, pick black woman). Hard to make a “mistake that will haunt you…
The other colors used to be the norm, with orange being more rare. But the Dutch, who were among the most prolific carrot farmers in Europe, started cultivating the orange ones as tribute to William of Orange, and the others were no longer mass produced.
Filet Mignon. This reminds of me of my college days when I would run out money for dinner and I would eat a Filet Mignon my parents sent me from Omaha Steaks.
The point of artificial sweeteners is to make people feel like they’re getting the same amount of sweetness they like without killing them with calories. Someone who doesn’t change their consumption but replaces sugar with artificial sweeteners would see an improvement in their health. Of course, marketing makes…
Out of curiosity, am I the only one who thinks they went too far with the red kool-aid and watermelon water, but would eat their weight in ribs and mac and cheese if given the chance?
When I’ve done diets that are more about exclusion and less about counting, I’ve found that they work a lot better. Yes, I’m probably eating fewer calories, but you have to remember that diets have two factors: The science and the human being, who is not always rational.
Firing the cooks but not the supervisor sounds all sorts of fucked up. And, here’s the thing, ribs, greens, mac and cheese, washed down with some red drank is good eatin’. Watermelon water’s pretty good, but that’s more of a summer thing for me. My biggest question is, was there cornbread, and if there was, did they…
Different people like different beverages. Crazy world this is.
