What needs to happen is, give him the maximum penalties for what he was charged with, and then double it. Cops should face double the punishment that a civilian does, because it’s their job to uphold the law, and they should know better.

HE should be the one institutionalized. The amount of rage and anger and resentment and just plain evil that exists in his mind to continually work on this to get back at a girlfriend because she dared to not obey his commands or something like that...

Yup. Police exist for punishment and reinforcement of the status quo. They do NOT exist to deter crime and never did. Police PR like Law and Order SVU (and all the other Law and Orders) that portray the police as a bunch of heroes who do nothing but tirelessly work to bring justice to every single victim they come…

This x1000. “To serve and protect” is the biggest bunch of bullshit out there. Police departments have literally gone to court to get rulings that state they have no obligation to do either of those things. So what is their purporse? To reify state power.

The most galling thing about the recent string of Extreme Court rulings on guns? Their little carve out for “sensitive governmental areas” like courthouses and courtrooms. No guns allowed there! I do not recall one damn thing about “sensitive governmental areas” in the 2nd Amendment. Not one word.
