“Ace their tests. Beat them at their own game.”

No-one was talking about skin hues, actually — I was laughing at the OP’s notion that China and India are not “diverse” simply because they don’t share similar demographics with the US.

“And then you try to me that these markets, that you claim like and want American films un-diverse, are themselves diverse in their film-making?”

To be “fare”, films are not distributed in a vacuum.... and as I noted elsewhere, the continued global success of US films skewing white/male/straight/whatever markets doesn’t do much to make an economic case for change.

Enjoy:

You do understand that the success of these US films into foreign markets is not exactly a ringing endorsement of the notion that diversity — in the sense of anything but straight white guys - is a big factor in audience demand?

By this stellar logic, the vast majority of films released by Hollywood would traffic in Jewish themes.

If we’re going to go “globally”, as you suggest, by all means let’s look at data for non-US films as well. How does Bollywood for using non-Indian actors, say, or Hong Kong for using non-Chinese? It seems exceptionally small-minded to hold only the US film industry to these diversity tests, surely?

But it’s not an either/or scenario. The right question here is “Am I getting paid more per hour for the delay than I value my time at?”

If you’re a guy under thirty and lift semi-seriously, Kroc is a bigger story than Jenner.

“One thing that I am 100% certain of is that if I do eventually decide to transition I would never compete in powerlifting again. I feel that would be a no-win situation and I would never want to do anything that would reflect negatively on the transgender or powerlifting communities.” -Kroc
