He's got to mean "set" in the sense of "long-lasting and reliable"... as in "I've got a set group of friends"
Mmmm... convincing stuff. 50K assaults on cops annually, right? And an upper bound of 1,000 civilian deaths via police action (regardless of circumstances) annually, per the "Killed by Police" project.
I keep seeing this phrase, and it bewilders me. "Punishable by death" implies some kind of specific legal judgment ... not a range of potential outcomes, the least likely of which is death.

Possibly the most entertaining episode of Lemming Outrage in commentariat history. Thanks!
"Devastating"? "Skewered"?
"Gardner Fiveash. ("We want it to be like Divergent meets Nantucket...")
Cute turn of phrase — though in practice, the Duke administration acted with extreme speed and force to the allegations against the lacrosse team.
Interesting headline... not least because the study data imply that with perfect availability of BC and abortions, we'd still see far higher rates of unintended pregnancy among lower-income groups.
Sigh.
