Thanks for the update, Jia.

It's not inconceivable — but we're talking here about health-care costs for a trans-identified group, which skews markedly younger (and less at risk for cardiac issues) than the general population.

"much higher rate of hospitalizations or ER visits or doctor visits for depression and anxiety"

He originated the story (after reading about Stuxnet), co-wrote the screenplay, and devoted three-plus years to the project. It's emphatically not a hired-gun gig.

Good point — it's a hacker drama, after all. Maybe all the CAT5 cabling will just carry things along? C'mon.

Well now — Universal and Michael Mann are betting $100 million on exactly that argument: Hemsworth has to open (and carry) Blackhat this next week.

Under the dice model, how many die did Kristen Stewart have when she pulled a better deal than Charlize (including a $10-million guarantee for a sequel) on the first Snow White?

Hmm... and the Rock makes 10x more than two-time Oscar winner Sean Penn.

Either Oscars are relevant to earning power (as you imply), or they are not (as the preponderance of evidence would suggest).

An Oscar? So did Jean Dujardin, Sean Penn (twice!), Forrest Whitaker, Adrian Brody and Roberto Bengini... and that's just in the last decade or so.

If you look at the quotes (i.e., asking price) for male actors only (to eliminate any sexism-related taint), you'll see that being an Oscar winner has approximately fuck-all to do w/anything.

"trigger for people who have severely struggled with body image issues" (way to minimize)

"sexual selection is primarily a woman's prerogative, which is one thing that separates animals from us"

The regional leader of the grifter community in question here had a little over $2.5 million in cash confiscated a few years back. (A female relative is a notorious specialist in these "sweetheart swindles" in the Northwest.)

Because there's a very specific type of grifter community that specializes in multiple aliases and scams of exactly this type?

So let's see: a sweetheart swindle, psychic storefronts, fake accents, potential links to the infamous Marks clan in California... is there any, um, common ingredient here that ties the whole narrative together? Something quite obvious, perhaps?

"I'm not really cool with supporting hateful imagery..."

Useful point — though the variations in impulse control are absolutely massive within any age cohort. (Within-group variation probably swamps the rise in mean impulse control from teen to adult years.)

"little shits like this will fucking think TWICE about spreading images they've taken without women's knowledge or consent."

How did this passage from the article not make the cut? Fun stuff, right?
