I heard more horrific things during my four years in New England during college than all my years growing up in Texas. The Deep South dislikes “black people,” but likes every black person they meet; New England likes “African Americans,” but hate every black person they see on the street.

I moved from Tennessee to Maryland years ago. The first time I ever encountered the KKK in real life was in Maryland. I see so much casual racism here it’s ridiculous.

True story: I knew more out and proud racist fucks during the 20+ years I lived in Chicagoland than I’ve known in the 20+ I’ve lived in the Deep South. This story surprises me not at all.

Turning lights on and off, on a schedule even. Playing music, alarms and timers, playing choose your own adventure games, math flash cards, turning the heat up and down, and that’s what we use them for after 6 months. There is a lot more potential that I haven’t got going yet.

Turning on and off lights and fans around the house. Setting timers in the kitchen. Music too.

I have to say, this is going to be interesting as they are literally filming exteriors in the park across the street from my apartment. My in laws live next door and they paid them 50 bucks a day to put US flags up on their balconies while they film. I’m always at work when they are filming though so couldn’t check it…

That said, I’m not sure what anyone else could have done, other than put out a bunch of free garbageware that changes your search default to Yahoo (this, apparently, has been tried).
