I’ve started only bringing earbuds with me, but I do where them when I’m traveling, especially when I’m on public transportation. I also like to have a nice soothing soundtrack when I’m visiting a museum — it seems to put me in the right frame of mind.

For the past few years, I’ve been using the Manfrotto Pocket Support. I’d generally just leave it on my camera and use it when needed (especially when some surfaces or kind of angled). I highly recommend it if you don’t want to carry around a standard tripod.

Agreed. On my last flight, I just took my Bose ear buds, and they were fine on the plane. The slightest little noise usually really bugs me, but I’m general okay on planes because the white noise from the engines is so loud.

Packing a small duffel bag is the best idea! I’m a big shopper if I travel overseas (there’s just some stuff I like that I can buy in Europe that I can’t get in the US). On my last trip, I stuffed all my dirty clothes in a REI duffel and used my suitcase to transport more fragile purchases (like gin and fruit jams).

A lot of the more outdoorsy shoe companies like Keen and Merrell offer comfortable flats and Mary Janes. My feet are very picky, so not all styles and brands work for me, but at least it’s a place to start.

Came here to suggest using the TJ cookies as a substitute. I had them before I’d heard of Tate’s, so they’re the original in my eyes.

As late as last year, if you wrote a letter to the White House about your engagement, you could get a letter of congratulations from the President. (I only know this because a co-worker got one “signed” by Barack and Michelle Obama.)

In 1985, I wrote a letter to NASA asking for information about being an astronaut for an elementary school project. They sent me a huge box of stuff, including lots of glossy 8x10 photos of astronauts and space shuttles, directly to my school. I was so excited carrying that box from the school office to my classroom.

I’ve flown economy class on transatlantic flights on both British Airways and American Airlines and there is now very little difference between the two. The last time I flew economy from Austin to London on BA, it was the most uncomfortable flight I’ve ever been on. There was little to no leg room (partially thanks

“I think it’s fantastic that the president is able to speak directly to the American people. He doesn’t have to go through the filter of the media to interrupt what he says or what he means.”

I was once one of those people you mention (not sexually active female with PCOS) who was untreated for a few years partly because I didn’t have insurance and partly because I didn’t want to go to the doctor because I’d had a bad experience with a female primary care physician when I said I wasn’t sexually active. I

The marketing of drugs for a specific evidence-based treatment isn’t new. To make a claim that a drug treats a specific condition, clinical trials have to be done to prove the claim. If a company is going to go to the trouble of doing the research, they’re going to market it for that specific condition, even if it’s

Marks and Spencer Colin the Caterpillar cola gums are the best! I stock up on them when I’m in the UK.

For most of my friends, the norm seemed to be one family TV in the living room and maybe a TV in the parent’s bedroom in the 80s. At my house, my older sisters and I had our own portable 13" black and white TVs that our grandmother gave us one Christmas (before my oldest sister went off to college). This was

I know it’s popular to hate on La La Land nowadays, but I feel the same way. It was just the movie I needed to see at the end of December when everyone was talking about what a horrible year 2016 had been. It made me feel carefree and happy, and there’s nothing wrong with a movie that does that.

I thought one of the guys on the stage discussing it while they were making speeches was with Price/Waterhouse. It looks like someone else brought the correct envelope and card out because neither Dunaway nor Beatty had it.

Yes. While the flu is usually just inconvenient for most people, it can be very serious. My friend’s brother died of the flu a few years ago. He was a healthy male in his early 20s, so not someone you’d usually think of being a risk of dying from the flu.

I’m a photography hobbyist, and I find Lightroom is sufficient for 99% of my editing needs. Casual photographers would probably be better served by learning the fundamentals of photography and how to fully use their camera so they can take better pictures.

I hate melodramatic schmaltzy shows like this. And while I like some rom-coms (The Holiday, Bridget Jones’s Diary, etc.) I can’t stand most of the ones that seem to get made these days (e.g., Nicholas Sparks-type crap, anything with Katherine Heigl). I hate shows with lovelorn female leads (Gray’s Anatomy, Ally

I don’t care how many people tell me I need to watch this show, I won’t do it. I hate melodrama and forced sentiment. I hate anything that looks like it might slightly resemble some crap Nicholas Spark would write. And I refuse to watch any show that seems to have a “very special episode” every freaking week.
