I’m really impressed by the kraken one.  Confused by the header image, though - I didn’t see those light up gators in any of the displays

I think the raccoons will be grateful if you do, though

I agree that getting a head start makes a lot of sense for that one girl - she should just do that with the *next* boyfriend, because this one sucks.

Prior to being married, I absolutely *hated* Valentine’s day - no matter where you are in single life, relationship wise, it just adds more pressure and effs things up. As a married person, I can take or leave it.  My 5 year old is very enthusiastic about any excuse to put up decorations, though, so she’s all in.

True, although I’d argue that it’s a mistake to adapt something with an existing adaptation that’s so much the definitive work on the subject.  The other two could stand alone because while there might be a lot of Christmas Carol movies, there’s no one that dominates.  With something like Wizard of Oz, they’re not

He’s not just cheap, he’s lazy and incompetent!  But also, I think he’s deeply in debt, and even a shitty network’s employees would expect to be paid.

If Lee was pulling stunts like that then *something* would have caused an irreparable break sooner rather than later - this particular reporter just got to be the means by which the inevitable occurred.

I always appreciate the 4th-wall breaking bits, like when we see the swedish chef with a pig nose and the talking veggies ask “well, how else were we going to get him in this movie?”

I think they they’re *so* successful in adapting these classics that they should have maybe stuck to that for more of their modern iterations, rather than having their new movies parrot the plotlines of the original muppet trilogy.  Those comparisons aren’t going to do them any favors, but they’re clearly really good

I love Muppet Treasure Island, but my finger does get a little itchy over the fast forward button when Jim Hawkins is singing...

The sequence where they do the roll call is such a good demonstration of their character design skills, and really punny.  I was just watching the Muppets Bohemian Rhapsody music video with my daughter last night, and I know I saw Old Tom and Angel Marie in there, at the very least, so some of the pirate crew have

To the comment I just dismissed: That’s quite the trick, apologizing a year+ ago for allegations made this week. I’m pretty sure I’m not the asshole here.

Yeah, I think it’s pretty far down on anyone’s list of properties to revive/reboot :)

Thanks for including the publisher and pub date so prominently - made them really easy to request in the “suggest a purchase” form for my local library system.

Yeah, except that he hasn’t actually made even a half-assed apology attempt yet, has he?  And, the fact that his whole professional identity was so tied to feminist ideals might alter that story arc (?).  Hard to say.

Thanks! It’s part of a conscious effort I’m making. It’s really easy to focus more on the “am I doing a good job, what if I’m f***ing this all up” part of parenting, but I’m trying to be, I guess, more mindful in how I do it? Not miss the good stuff, and all that.

I knew a couple Mormons in college, and I know a few ex-Mormons. The ex-Mormons range from describing it as something that just wasn’t for them, to labeling it a cult. Most of them are still friendly with their still-Mormon parents and siblings.  The active Mormons in my building, they seemed like perfectly nice

While all that vastness might be intimidating from a particular perspective, I more focus on how beautiful it is, and how many really cool things there are out there - ones we’ve already found, and ones still to find.

You’d think that at the very least, LW3 would finish writing their screed, look it over, realize how insane it makes them look, and then rewrite it to sound more reasonable.  Someone who’d actually send that must not have a drop of self-awareness.

Maybe blackmail?  It seems like they should cut their losses, because he’s nothing but liability in the long term. There’s so little to motivate them protecting him at this point, I almost think the Russians must have fed him and his people kompromat on some of the congress critters.
