She tried to stab someone, yet you’re harping on his usage of the word “females”?!

I shouldnt have to do mental gymnastics to make the headline accurate.
How is this patronizing?
No, I absolutely hate watching children competition shows on TV. I hate Chopped Jr, Food Network Star Jr, Project Runway Jr.... there was once even an American Idol Jr way back in the day.
And I am LIVING for all the hate the other designers have for her. She is so fashion forward and her perspective is fresh. Top 3 for sure and I feel like she’s worthy of a Tim Gunn save if needed.
the bleach blonde with the tiny round glasses this season is. Killing. It.
You know what, it’s quite plausible that she’s devastated at the thought of not having her dad in her life
That’s nice, I guess. Frankly women have more pressing issues to handle than rehashing the ‘makeup-no makeup’ debate for yet another decade. I want equal pay. Imagine if we spent as much time each day fighting for that as we did putting on makeup or lecturing each other to take it off.
Voice of reason here. Cosmetics companies are gonna market their products anyway, so I would rather see someone like her in the adverts, maybe inspiring someone to read some lf her marvellous novels along the way.
There were plans for her family to do a mini-series following their move to the US when David joined the LA Galaxy. It was shortened to a two-hour special, but it is one of the funniest things I have ever seen. She’s a hoot.
I’m here for it, I love her style.
I would not have thought that Posh would be down for her collection being produced for anyone over a size 12, but that shows me. Although, I guess I should have known, you always read stuff about how she such a warm, funny, family person who has this cold, stylish, public persona. Still, it’s impressive.
I disagree with that. In an ideal world, or if both genders wore as much makeup, it would be true. In our world, femininity is something you are prescribed to work on, and there is a pressure for wearing it. You can reappropriate/ reconcile your makeup, but it is still very gender biaised.
I feel like Adichie’s stance is less “women must wear make up to be beautiful” and more “if you as an individual enjoy wearing make up, that is fine and in no way incongruous with feminism.” And I feel like the argument that women should not wear make up is anti-feminist, because it’s dismissing individual’s autonomy…
I’m glad it was made. I support any representation of black gay people.
I haven’t been this excited to see a gay-themed film since Weekend. It looks nuanced and complex and like the total opposite of Looking.
Can’t recommend this movie enough. I saw it during a screening at the NYFF and had the chance to meet Barry Jenkins. The film asks some interesting questions about black homosexuality and masculinity (which the interview above discussed). Great performances from the actors, particularly Naomie Harris who was far and…
Cops in NYC make bank. And have amazing retirement and health benefits. Most police officers make considerably more than the national average. Many police forces won’t hire officers over a certain IQ level because they fear that more intelligent officers will get bored.
This is what pisses me off about this. In most mental health care facilities workers are generally paid less than $12 dollars an hour to non-violently deescalate situations like this. My mom worked in a group home and got punched so hard that she had a black eye for over a month, and if she had retaliated or hurt…
