I hole heartily agree. While these the advances in CG animation are amazing in their own right; there is something about the blood and sweat that really gives substance and quality to the old styles of SFX.

while I agree with all the posts about hub centered dynamos to be ideal (currently running one) there are some cycling generators that seem really 'giz' worthy. this one for instance, uses magnetic concepts* previously overlooked for power generation.
