The Hit boxes in that game were horrendous. I remember not so fondly how I had to get so close to hit meanwhile the knights were just swinging away hitting me from twice as far away. Then, the fight with the Thunderbird or your Shadow just drove me insane. I did not beat the game until I got a game genie.
