I don’t have experience with bad Prius battery packs, but I am very familiar with the famous mid 2000s Civic Hybrids where the battery packs almost fail on schedule around 100k. They then basically just turn into slightly heavier Civics with less storage space.

Maybe I’m behind the times, but I recall Priuses nearly always requiring a battery pack replacement prior to 200k miles. That’s not inexpensive and I would consider it a “major repair”.

Not much protection against police, though. You can be compelled to give up your fingerprints, but not a keycode or password.

The Allanté Club of America website is a goldmine.

To be fair, there’s a high risk of being kaled if you’re hit by a midsize sedan in one of those. But I agree to a certain extent, these regulations are radicchio.

There’s a reason the Beechcraft Bonanza is nicknamed “The Doctor Killer”. They think that because they’re good at their job that those fine motor skills and high intelligence naturally make them an extremely adept pilot. I’m no pilot, but to me it seems that excellent piloting is much more about understanding gauges

I always heard that if someone’s calling you a cunt, he considers you one of his mates, but if he calls you mate, he considers you a cunt.

Yeah, it was a stick shift, which I only now realize was super rare. However, I remember some kerfuffle during the buying process about what engine was available with the manual when he was buying. He drove one engine on the S70 T5 which he wasn’t a huge fan of, and then drove another on the C70 T5 which he liked a

When I was coming of age to get my driver’s license, my dad had an S70 T5 sedan. That car was the definition of MEH. So MEH in fact that I don’t actually remember what the interior looked like, despite it being the main car I learned to drive stick on (the others being a 1993 Ford Probe GT and a 1996 M3). Hell, even

I was on the receiving end of this call. I was not on the road trip, my friends were on their way to Ann Arbor. The friend driving didn’t know the area, the friend in the backseat did, and I was chatting with the passenger seat occupant.

A core element of law is the right to face one’s accuser in court. I have no problem with these cameras being used as evidence so long as there is an officer present who will not perjure him/herself when asked “did you see John Doe driving Car A through the intersection, and can you say beyond any reasonable doubt

Conspiracy theory: Tesla needs people who get the early Model 3s to be Tesla-indoctrinated so they can limit the spread of low attention-to-detail reports that have plagued the Model 3 launch thus far.

The shape of the left FIAT 500 side mirror cap is different than the right side. This is so that the blinkers that are above and behind the front wheel arches on either side will reflect off the inner part of the painted mirror cap and to the driver’s eye. Low-tech version of mirror-mounted flashers which IMO is

By that time Medicare/Medicaid will be totally defunded and there won’t be anyone to pay for them.

I can’t wait for the AARP/H-D lobbying coalition, though.

There is absolutely no reason for buying that almost base model version for $45k when for $3k more you could have the pearl white, Launch Edition #487 (If I’m not mistaken). Full disclosure, I used to work for this dealer and sold this car when it was new, so I can vouch for the previous owner as a true Petrolhead.

TSTI may not be an appropriate moniker, but I think Tuned by STI to Curate Ludicrous Speed would go over well. Everyone agrees the BRZ needs TSTICLS

That’s a Model X, isn’t it?

That is an extremely fair point.

However, my first car was a 1959 Chevy Apache. 1 wheel wonder with a bored out 327 stuck under the hood, mated to a 4 speed manual farm truck transmission. It’d spin the tires in all gears except 1st, and only because 1st would only go to 4mph. It was 7000lbs of angry unbalanced metal

I grew up in a BMW family, and am now the happy owner of a Focus ST. IMO it’s more challenging to correctly use 100% of a FWD car than a RWD car. That’s not to say that RWD is somehow less challenging than FWD, it’s just a different challenge.

I wonder what the agreement’s view on GPS tracking is. I would be pretty pissed if a car owner was watching my movements but then again I’m American and this is German.
